Credit One Bank sent an unsolicited credit card application to my home which offered a credit line of "up to" $1,000.  After reviewing the forms, I was confused if Credit One and Capital One were one and the same.  Now I know, they are not.

Shortly after receiving the card which had a credit line of $300, I was immediately charged (out of the credit line) $75.  This immediately dropped my FICO score.

After the first year, the annual fee increased to $99 which was billed in monthly installments.  I paid the entire balance off, which actually had to be determined by their Chief Lawyer, but before that I went ahead and paid more than the balance due.

To this date, Credit One and Allan Shutt are reporting incorrectly on my credit file willfully and with malice.  This bank will not improve your FICO score, nor will you receive a $1,000 credit line.  Instead, you will be taken advantage of to the tunes of perhaps $1,000s on a credit line of $300.

CEO Robert Dejong has turned Credit One into a money maker with these tactics which should be investigated by the FTC as deceptive trade practices.  Allan Shutt should be disbarred.

I have had Credit one bank since 2011 and yes at first I complained about the fees and high interest. But like 90% of others that have this card, it is used for REBUILDING. You're lucky enough if they give you the chance at credit! Capital one and Credit one are two completely different companies. Maybe people need their eyes and brains checked. And also, are you not researching companies before you give them your information????? I actually have had several late payments in the past 4 years and upon checking my credit report only 1 was reported. ONly 1!!! And i love them for that. It couldve messed up my credit badly. Whenever i call and speak to someone my call is answered and resolved quickly. So to me I think Credit One Bank is a great company. Business is business and they need to make their money somehow. Also, they are not the only credit cards that charge high fees and interest. It all depends on your credit. So quit the whining and get a life!

Also, you will need to do some research on how credit works. If you open a new account with a credit card, loan or anything that has to do with credit of course your score initially drops!!!!! Doesn't matter who it is, the moment you submit your information for credit, the company views your credit and it is considered an inquiry. Inquiries drop your credit. The moment you are approved, you now have a new account. Opening a new account ALSO drops some points. Sooo that is what happened to you there. After about 6 months of on time payments your score will start rising.

My score has improved with Credit one bank.

Last I saw, "Credit One" is spelled different than "Capital One".  Even if someone has zero knowledge of the English language, the characters in each name are different in "Credit" and "Capital".  You then go onto wail and stomp your feet because of the "up to $1000" statement.  Since you are apparently of legal age one must conclude you spent most of educational time sleeping in class as you apparently don't have any idea what "up to" means.

You then act surprised about the $75 fee and the other fee.  Every credit card offer contains a disclosure statement which details the Terms and Conditions of the offer complete with the fee schedule. Looks like you didn't read that either.  No credit grantor is under any obligation to report anything to any credit bureau and if the information they do report is correct, it has a right to be in that report.  If it is not correct, you have the right to dispute it.  Oh yes, one last thing, don't bother with any effort claiming I must work for them, because I don't!
