Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
On 6-15-2009, I bought a Cricket phone online. The phone was due to arrive by 6-19-2009 and when it didn't, I checked my tracking number. FedEx said they didn't have the correct shipping address, so they couldn't deliver the phone. I called them and found out the Cricket had given them my PO box instead of my street address. I gave Cricket both when I placed the order, but for some reason, the rocket scientists in the shipping department gave the PO box to a company that does not ship to PO boxes. I corrected the issue with FedEx, but they told me I'd have to wait until Monday, possibly Tuesday to have the phone delivered unless I wanted to drive an hour to pick it up at their hub. I can't do that. I called Cricket to see if they could fix the issue so I could have the phone today as I took the day off work to claim the package. I can't afford to do that more than once and I work double shifts on Monday and Tuesday. Of course, the first person I talked to was very sorry about the mix up, but they can't help me. So, I asked for a supervisor who refused to give me the corporate office phone number then told me the corporate office has no phone number. Now, I don't like being lied to and I know the corporate office has a phone number. I found it myself and called them. I got a guy on the phone who promised to get me somebody who could fix the problem for me today. He transferred me to their call center in India where a woman first lied and said she was a supervisor when she wasn't, then refused to help with the problem. When I asked for her supervisor, he laughed at me and told me the problem "would solve itself eventually." That's not the "help" I was looking for, so I called the corporate office again where I got the same guy who transferred me to India. I told him that Cricket obviously doesn't value my business if they hire unprofessional people who laugh at issues and tell us our problems will solve themselves. His solution to the problem was to have me refuse the package and go to a full service store and buy the phone there. I bought the phone online because it was half the price as the same phone at the full service store. Spending twice as much money for the same product is not my idea of a solution. Of course, they weren't going to arrange for the full service store to sell me the phone for the same price as the online store. I stop just short of calling that bait and switch, but it's pretty close. I asked to speak to his supervisor and I was told that would take two business days. Supervisors apparently don't exist in Cricket, they have to be conjured which evidently takes two days. All through this part of the ordeal, they kept telling me it was their fault and they were "so very sorry." It gets better from there. I hung up and called corporate back until I got another man who promised to call their shipping department and straighten the whole thing out for me. Nope, didn't happen that way. He called me back and said the only address they had was my PO Box. Now, I know what I typed in and what my receipt says, so lying to me at this point is only making me angrier. First it's their fault, then when they realize they may have to do some actual work to fix it, it's no longer their fault.

The long and short of it is, I won't be getting the phone because I won't be home to sign for it next week. I can't imagine what I'm going to have to go through to get my money back once they show up here and there's nobody home to sign for it. How difficult is it to make an error right in a timely manner Cricket? How hard is it to give customers the number for the corporate office when they ask for it? We're not morons, we know the corporate office most certainly does have telephone service. Don't lie to your customers, we aren't fools and we know when we're being lied to.

After this, I'm shopping around for another cellular plan. I don't want to deal with a company that hires people who don't tell the truth and then laugh when customers are angry. Stay away from Cricket if you want a stress-free experience.

It sounds to me like Fedex had some responsibility too.

#2Consumer Suggestion

Sun, August 09, 2009

I had something similar happen to me a few times with Fed ex. Once, I had ordered something online and the company I placed the order with only used Fedex. When I contacted fedex they said I couldn't pick this up at their facility and that it could only be delivered to the address on the slip. They couldn't give me a definite time either said it would be somewhere between 9am and 6pm. Fine, so I took a day off from work and waited all day. When 6:30 pm rolled around I got nervous and called fedex. The rep said that it should have been delivered already but that the driver was still out and maybe give it a little time. I waited. An hour and a half later I had them back on the phone. I explained that I had taken a day off from work and that I was very upset about that because I was told that it would be delivered today. I also threatened to file a complaint if I didn't get it. Well a little after 8:45pm the Fedex truck pulls up and the guy gets out in a huff and hands me the package. On another occasion there was an address mixup, similar to what happened to you that almost resulted in the package being returned to the sender. The problem was the sender left out a relevant part of my address. Fedex had already attempted delivery a few times. At least thats what they said. When I called I wanted to know why since they had my phone number and contact info in front of them they never called me to verify the rest of my address. You would think after a few failed deliveries they would do this. They had no answer for me. Anyway I corrected my address with them and asked if they could redeliver one last time to me. Guess what? They didn't want to attempt another delivery until the sender paid some extra fees due to the address mixup. Something that had nothing to do with me getting my package. So, I filed a complaint and also contacted the corporate office. I not only got my package delivered to me but I also got a follow up call and an apology from the corporate office.
