Cross Country Bank gave a $300 limit, with the promise (after joining the Advantage Club) of a $100 credit increase after you first 2 payments were received on time. My payments were on time, but the way their billing system is set up, they denied my increase saying I was over the limit. Then they charged a over limit fee. I tried to get this straightened out, but got the run around. I lost my job and notified them, but no one notes the account. They call 5, 10, 15 times a day. I have sent out 2 "cease and desist" letters. One rep told me so what, they will continue to call. I told them this was illegal and they don't care. They continue to harasse and threaten. I told them to close the account. Now my balance is sky high!!

I have made my payments on time for a long time My credit limet is like 500.00 and now that it is that they have sent me a letter saying that I got 50.00 more in credits and now they are charging me a over the limet fee everymonth and a late fee of 30.00 so now my account is like 800.00 because of the charges they are doing on my account they told me I would never get cought up. because they charge like 10.00 for cash money that I never get every month.. and somemore fees that its bull.. I have had my account for months and years. I called and tryed to get help on this but do you think they would help no. they said I shouldn't have gotton the letter because they didn't send I would like to know who did if they didn't ...... I will not pay it until they take some charges off here they won't get another dime from me . I don't know why they can't help some one out that has been with them for years its not my falt that this has happend... I have talk to a lawer and he will file and they won't get another dime unless they get rid of some of these fee's they are stilling from people right and left.. I all ready have another bank card that is nothing like them and it helps to rebuild your credit they don't have all these hidden fees.. I get 20 calls a day but I am going to get them for harsment I done talk to a lawer and they can't call that many times. so I am waiting for some more calls to come in and it will be taped .. cross country is ripping people off all I can say..

No more credit line increases

I was offered a $250.00 increase on the net. I called and was told that it would not be available until November. I tried again in November, It did not work. I called and was told that as of the 19th of November 2002 there will be no more credit line increases unless you want to deposit the amount of the credit limit requested. So if you want a $250.00 credit line increase you know have to send Cross Country Bank $250.00. So do waste your time paying on time etc. it will make no difference Well guess what I am closing my account and filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and to any one else who will listen. It is bad enough being told that I have to pay $7.00 to make a payment over the phone and being charged $100 for the privilege of getting a $200.00 credit line increase, but this is the last straw. Before someone makes a comment about late payments, paying on time or getting a job at McDonalds. I have had this card for 2 Years; I have never been late, I always pay the full ammount on the bill so I do not carry a balance at all.

You have no clue as to what you are talking about. What about the victims that sign up for a card and the credit company is bought out by another company and the rates are raised. Your simplistic castigation of these victims shows your highly diminished mental capacity. You are indeed the strongest case for the proof of de-evolution. You need a nice long drink from the gene pool. ED Magedson [email protected]

This might come to a shock to all of you, but guess what? all credit cards have late fees and over limit fees. It is a simple problem to fix, you pay your bill on time you won't get a late fee and duh... if you don't go over your limit you won't get... thats right you guessed it. You won't get an over limit fee.

If you idiots would read the card holder agreements you sign your names to and thats a legal contract with ccb. you would see that. so i have an idea pay your credit card bills and you won't get calls, late fees, or over limit fees. DUH

In defense of cross country bank, ( i am a card holder), I must say they have done a satisfactory job thus far on my behalf. They are willing to help people with low credit scores get on track, and the only complaints I have heard were of an overcharge on annual fees that has been taken care of.

I to am waiting for a credit line increase, but I am making payments on time and having no troubles. In closing the rebuttle published from a company rep.,was quit brash and in poor taste that person has no reason to be so uncouth when they are for the most part doing a productive and appriciated service. Bottom line if you dont like the terms provided dont take the card. Not one card holder has been forced to send in the application.

EDitor's Solution to the Problem of Systematic Corporate RIP-OFF by financial institutions: On-time payments being marked as late ...a new revenue stream for Corporate America, Nationwide

#130

Wed, October 16, 2002

EDitor's Report:

Unfortunately, Rip-off Report is seeing this as a disturbing trend among many companies, including insurance companies, credit card companies, mortgage companies, bank auto loans, but more distressing is the inclusion of banks, which are governed by the Treasury Department.

This is a newly discovered revenue stream that more and more of Corporate America is discovering they can get away with! Ask yourself, "If the shoe was on the other foot and consumers had figured out a way to take money from corporations, they would have their huge legal departments harass and otherwise take punitive actions against the culprits. This is no different than consumers who steal from companies, except the companies are bigger, have more resources, and hide behind their attorneys. It's time to hold BIG BUSINESS accountable and not let them get away with their amorality, fraud, and theft from hard-working Americans.

WHAT CAN I DO?

My payments are always made on time, but when I get my next statement, ..it's always marked like I made the payment late and I am charged additional Late Payment fees

SOLUTION TO YOUR PROBLEM
About 7 days before your payment is due, take your payment stub and your check already made out with your account number on it to a BIG law firm in your area. Definitely take this to a large law firm.. When you get there, ask to see a lawyer. Ask them to do you a simple favor that might be a very lucrative case for them. Tell them, here in my right hand is a stamped, addressed envelope and in your left hand is a check make out to the company that you owe the payment to.

Simply ask the firm to mail this for you 7 days before your payment bill/stub says it's due. Then, ask them to mail it for you again if you come back the next month with late payment fees marked on the bill. During the following month, return to the attorney's office with your next envelope, check and, the late payment fee. Ask the lawyer if their office would be willing to sue them for you, because a class action lawsuit is a definite possibility.

Then, notify the attorney about all the Rip-off Reports on this company. Explain that if the attorney would like to contact us here at the Rip-off Report, we will make arrangements with them to contact additional victims. They should also know that we would notify the victims to contact the lawyers with their sworn affidavits as to what the company has done to them, so that they can join a class action lawsuit if one is filed.

ORGANIZINYAG A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT::::::::::::::::::

Additionally, any attorney who is interested in suing a particular company on this website may contact us directly. It is generally inappropriate to solicit business using this website other than through prior arrangement. This is largely because we need to ensure, the best we can, that our readers are not being taken advantage of, once again.

If you see a company with a good number of reports, we have the database of contact information. We will e-mail those victims to contact you. Often we have additional information which does not appear on the Rip-off Reports. We are anxious and willing to join forces to stand up for the rights of consumers and help them get justice. E-mail us.
