I was shocked at the service I recieved while trying to rebook my HONEYMOON CRUISE!  My fiancee has been laid off for 7 months and we were fortunate enough that he found another job but...He cannot take the 4 days off to go.  I called the agency several times throughout the year to ensue that if for some reason we have to reschedule, could we do that.  They assured me on more than one occasion that this is acceptable so long as I pay $70.00 for the insurance.  Okay, no problem.  I called to let them know that I needed to add myinsurance and move my date forward...you won't believe this!...They said they were going to cancel it and by the way, I had to pay $350.00 to cancel this cruise that I am not going to be able to rebook for a future date. WTF  I tried to make point point to them but apparently Carnival said no and they said I was lucky that I did it in enough time that I did not have to pay 50% of the total cost of the cruise.  That is $600.00 for a cruise I couldn't even go on and they had the nerve to remark that my fiancee getting a job is no reason to have to cancel..HELLO!...Apparently they did not watch the news at all or understand that I had told them he had been laid off for more than 7 months but they don't give a crap.  So beware, they make their prices seem great but Carnival Cruise Line and Cruise.com will find any way they can to screw you over.  So not only I do not get to go on my honeymoon, they charge me $350.00 because of it.  I guess every single income family in the US would be okay with that but hey, I guess these guys can do whatever they want to whoever thay want and no one does anything about it.  STAY AWAY FROM CARNIVAL CRUISE LINES AND CRUISE.COM THEY WILL ROB YOU!!!!

I have been on seven cruises over the years and five of which were with Carnival Cruise Line.  I have contacted Carnival Cruise Lines several times and have always received professional assistance.  I am sorry to hear that you have had poor service because if you have call Carnival Cruise Lines direct you will probible be exteremly happy.  Their are so many third party companies that attempt to sell cruises to the public but at the end it is a RIP OFF.  Do what I do, go to ripoff.com and other comsumer web sites to assist you in choosing what companyt to book with.  Howard 's Clark is another site you can go to.  Just the other day on Clark Howard's radio show he stated to stay away from cheapcruise.com.

The cruise lines make it very clear what your refund would be depending on your cancellation date.  Within so many days of the cruise, you lose your deposit, then a portion of the fare, then total fare.  And if you went the cheapo method and booked that early saver rate Carnival offers, you lose you refund no matter when you cancel.  Carnival does make that clear.  I don't know how clear Cruise.com makes it.

You should never book through a third party website when you can book online directly through the cruise line.

If you book insurance, do it from the beginning, not when you decide you want to cancel.

Otherwise, just avoid Carnival all together.  While I don't think this particular issue is Carnival's fault, they do still suck as a cruise line.

I have recently had a wonderful experience with both Carnival Cruises and Cruise.com   I had booked my daughter and her future-husband on a honeymoon cruise, as a wedding gift.  Unfortunately, they had to cancel because she found out she was pregnant and a diabetic as well which placed her into a 'high risk' category and her doctors would not permit her to travel.  Even though I bought insurance past the 7-day policy which did not cover the pregnancy/high risk issue, both agencies came to my rescue and not only gave the kids a $500 credit towards another cruise, but also refunded me the remainder of the cruise cost.  Carnival has a no-refund policy, but this certainly shows that they do their very best to be fair.  I would definitely book with them again.
