Curb Appeal Of Oregon, Curb Appeal USA, Steve Caldwell Inferior Driveway job, claims filed with State, didn't pay, company closed down and a new one formed Portland Oregon
Contracted with Steve Caldwell of Curb Appeal Oregon to do a cement driveway job. Work was done but didn't look right. Steve insisted it would after curing and a final treatment to be applied, and he collected full payment.
As the driveway aged, there were many problems. Made over 20 phone calls and emails to Steve Caldwell that were not returned.
After months of no response, filed claim with the State of Oregon Contractors Board.
Inspector from State Contractors Board wrote a two page report, saying in summary "The numerous areas of patchwork in the driveway field, the inconsistently exposed aggregate finish, the driveway's score joint patchwork, the missing section of driveway at the abutment to the entry curb, and the inconsistent finish at the abutment of the driveway slab and existing retaining wall, the driveway is not in accordance with standard industry standards."
I was awarded $4,300 in damages so the work could be redone. Unfortunately, there were many other people also making claims at the State Contractors Board against this contractor, which has exhausted his contractors bond, and still left outstanding $9,351 in unpaid awards by the Contractors Board for other people's claims, and $2,312.81 in unpaid disiplinary fines. He has since folded this company, and its no longer in business and has no assets to apply my judgement against. He has formed a new company called Curb Appeal USA.
If you want a company to do business with that will take your money, do an inferior job, not return phone calls, not pay a State Contractors judgement for several people, and then fold that company into a new one when there are too many claims, the search is over. Give them a call, and see if they help you as well as they helped me.
