Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I hired custom home mechanics to complete a full kitchen renovation on my home.  The project consisted of removing walls, changing door and window openings, moving electircal, plumbing and HVAC, along with putting all the parts and pieces back together.

The project began ok.  The workers showed up and began to demo the rooms.  Although they only worked half days, it did not really bother me becuae they set out to get items done which they completed.

After the floor was laid, a friend of mine who lays floors and another contractor looked at it and told me the entire thing was laid improperly and needed to be either extensiveley repaired or removed and replaced completely.  I brought this to Stan(The Owners) attention and he seemed to accept what I was saying and was going to fix the issue.

He sent his laborer over the next work day and all they did was clean the floor and say now it is good.  There were still high & low spots, ungrouted areas and a horribly laid floor pattern.  I discussed this with him later that night on the phone and after he exclaimed it is not going to get any better, I fired him and it was a good thing I did.

Upon further review, myself and another contractor found that not only were the floors laid improperly, but the walls are all unlevel with some having big bellies in them, the door was not installed properly, the window was installed in the wrong place and has to be moved over 6 inches, and they created dmaage to my drop down ceiling in my basement.

After a few days, Stan sent me a bill for an additioan $10,000 for the work he claimed he completed.  I had already paid him $17,000 of an alomost $35,000 project.  I refused to pay him another penny and actually asked for just over $5,000 in refunds for the work he completed wrong which has to be redone and for the damage to my floor and ceiling.  He declined.

We then went back and forth through texts and emails of him claiming non of this was his fault and trying to pass blame on others.  He is not a good contractor.  I would recommend everyone and anyone stay away.

In closing, Stan ruined my kitchen project.  From fmis installed flooring to unlevel walls and screwing up all the new openings.  He damaged other items in my home too and refuses to take any respnsibility.  He unjustly took my money and did not give me any return on my investment as in terms of work or refund.  Beware of Custom Home Mechanics and Stan Komorowski, the do horrible work and they are not good people to boot.
