Dailmer Chrysler/Wells Motor Co. Tells multiple excuses for Durango's problems, either a problem can't be duplicated or that's how it's supposed to run! Auburn Hills, Michigan, dealer Avon Park Florida
We purchased our 99 Dodge Durango in August last year. From the start the engine labored to shift from 1st to 2nd, etc. The A/C (front and rear both running, would not freeze us out~ we even had a thermometer to stick into the vents as the dealer uses, and over a 2 hour drive on max-a/c, it never got as low as it is supposed to! The dealer's mechanic said that a less that great a/c was used in the 99 Durango! I called the home Corporation and filed a complaint, but NOTHING came out of that!
I was told that the check engine light was for the RPM's and that I had the wrong size tires on it! I had taken it to Sears and had them put the specified size for the truck on it, Michelens~ they were the right size. The dealer's mechanic stated that they adjusted the "computer" to read the size tire on it, but the shifting problem still persists! It's only at 67,000 miles, and all the oil disappeared! (Oil light never came on) (I do have it changed regularly!) They said it was a gasket on a manifold... good thing we got the extended warranty!
The brakes are bad in bumper to bumper traffic, the motors for the windows are tempermental!
Everytime I take it to the Dodge dealer's mechanic, I keep being told that they cannot duplicate customer's complaint!
This is our second Dodge, the first was a 1998 Dakota Sport, which we bought new, it's at 130,000 and doing great! But after the attitude that "you are imagining things" that we get from the service department, we will not buy from either this dealership, nor Chrysler again!
