SPOKE WITH NORM RODGERS REGARDING A PAID COLLECTION ON MY CREDIT FOR $65.00. THIS COLLECTION SHOULD NOT BE THERE AT ALL. ALL DOCUMENTS WERE SENT IN. NORM STATED" IT'S PEOPLE LIKE YOU WHO NEVER PAY ANYTHING THEN EXPECT EVERYONE TO DO EVERYTHING FOR THEM, GO AHEAD SEND AS MANY LETTERS AS YOU WANT THEY WILL GET NO WHERE WITH ME I DONT CARE. AND GET A LAWYER TOO SO YOU CAN WASTE MORE MONEY."

HE THEN SAID, THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO. YOU DO NOT PAY ANYTHING AND THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT THAT. THAT'S JUST TOUGH. NORM THEN WOULD NOT LET ME SPEAK AND SAID I'M DONE TALKING TO YOU AND HUNG UP ON ME.

THIS GUY NEEDS TO BE PUT OUT OF BUSINESS. IF A CLASS ACTION SUIT IS FILED CONTACT ME BY USING THE REBUTTAL BOX BELOW. HE WAS DISRESPECTFUL,HARRASSING AND DEMEANING ON THE PHONE IMMEDIATELY.

I filed a small claim against both Data Line and G&W Towing, and the day before the case went to trial I was contacted by Barry William's attorney. We agreed that if he promised in writing to remove the negative report and to pay my filing fees I would drop the case. The only way it appears to deal with this guy is in small claims court. Plus I'm sure he has to pay his attorney!

COLLECTION AGENT HELL HAS AN EXIT

I've had to deal with Norm and Dataline in the past and all I can say is he is the most unprofessional person I've ever known. How this guy thinks that treating people the way he does gets people to pay up is beyond me. I paid my balance, because I needed it paid off before I could get a loan. But, a friend showed me that I never had to pay ANY collection agent. How? In California and all 50 States, there is a time limit on how long a debt can be enforced to be collected. I'm not an attorney. A friend of mine showed me this on www.cardreport.com and look into their debt problem section. After 4 years in California, a debt has "RUN" and the time to collect it is expired. It's legally uncollectable and If I had only known, I would have never paid Dataline a dime. I read on the site that student loans don't apply, so don't get excited. Read everything carefully and see if it applies to your situation. Do your research and this is only telling you what I used for my situation. You can also fire a collection agent, too. According to this site, BenDover.com, Federal law, if you send a properly worded letter, they have to stop calling you at home and work and sending you letters and remove any damage to your credit report or you can sue them. That's at Ben Dover's consumer site at www.BenDover.com . Look up "Fire your collection agent and read it. It has directions and an example. To Ripoff report, I'm sorry for listing other sites, but I'm not selling anything and these sites can great help with useful and powerful information, because it helped me on other debt and getting the calls to stop. Everything you need a arm yourself against being abused is online. Most people don't know this and put up with the abusive tactics that collection agents pull. Well, you don't have to put up with it. This stuff works and I can't thank my friend enough for sharing this information and the least I could do is share it with you. I also was given a powerful tip a few years ago and the guy was 100% RIGHT. It was a car dealership and I got turned down for bad credit and the manager was this cool guy. I asked if I should pay off my debts and this is before I knew the information above. He stated that if it's on my credit report, the damage is done, so don't pay them. I really couldn't believe what I was hearing. He said that if a debt is 3, 4, 5 years old, if I pay them, it starts the 7 year clock all over again of the bad debt being on my credit report. He said if a debt was 4 years old, I had to only wait 3 years for it to fall off my credit report. But again, if I made even a single payment, the clock starts and it's 7 years from the last reported payment. He was 100% correct. I waited a few short years and the bad debt fell off my credit report. I didn't have to pay some shady credit repair place, I didn't have to pay a dime of the debt. I simply waited and sure enough, one by one, things fell off and for the past few years, I have 750+ FICO scores with perfect credit. I didn't design the credit system, I just used it to my advantage. IN closing, sorry this was so long, but I see the pain you folks are going through and I wanted to tell my story and give out some links. In no way and I giving legal advice and again, I'm not an attorney or lawyer. If you need legal advice, contact a lawyer in your state. This is just stuff I found on the internet and I'm sharing it as a consumer. I was a person that made mistakes and used the law to correct my mistakes. I believe everyone should pay their debts and I pay all my debts on time now. I'm not advocating you not paying your creditors. You should pay your debts in the time you agreed. My story is only about tactics I used in the past when I was young and not good with bills. Today, I pay all my debts on time and as agreed. What I wrote only applies to me and my situation and the true story was told for entertainment value only. I hope the links help and the information provided by those sites helps you in some way.

I AM TAKING TO SMALL CLAIMS COURT

I came on this website and found a million letters all like what I experienced. I sold a car in July, 2003 to my neighbor and they never registered the vehicle. It was towed and now this collection company: Data Line Credit Corp. wants me to pay them almost $900! I spoke with the DMV and they told me if I resend a copy of the original paperwork, they will get it cleared up for me without a problem. In fact, the gal on the phone was very polite and informative. They way all business should treat people right away. After reading everyone's story, I am wondering why more people have not filed in small claims court? I intend to do so if this happens to me, which seems to be the case. I am also on the phone right now holding for the Attorney General for the State of California. I will send certified, registered mail, the documents to Data Line, as well as the Attorney General and the members of the press. I will CC everyone on the letter to Data Line. I would ask that everyone file against them with the Attorney General and small claims. If everyone does this, he will be out of business in no time and, perhaps, behind bars.
