I had a flash drive with some crucial data on it that suddenly stopped working- when I inserted into the USB port I got a message that said the disk was not formatted. I panicked, and began researching to find a company that might be able to help me recover the lost data. Data Recovery Corp used a combination of high pressure sales tactics and false reassurance to persuade me that I had the best chance of recovering my data with them. I paid the extra $199 for priority service. They did call me later the same day I brought the disk in and told me they could achieve a full recovery, but there was severe damage to the memory. Well, I didn't know much about computers, and they had my flash drive, so I said go ahead when they told me it would cost $600 on top of the $199 diagnostic fee, plus a 10% surcharge (for the "priority" service) I was just relieved to be getting this crucial data back. Two days later, they told me the recovery was complete and they would overnight the data to me. Well, they didn't overnight it, they shipped it by ground, and I got it three days later, and less than half the data was recovered and they did not return the original flash drive. On top of that, there was this strange other box that contained a hard drive. This seemed odd, I thought "gee, are they giving me a hard drive?" So I plugged it in, and it obviously belonged to someone else. I called them immediately and told them they had sent me someone's hard drive. The response they gave me was "You got a freebie. Just keep it and format it." WHAT???!!! This belongs to someone who paid you to fix it!, I said, incredulous. I called back again and asked to speak to Adam Stallworth, the fast-talking liar who had told me that all my data would be recovered and that no one else could do it. He put me on hold and then eventually a manager picked up, and put me on hold for 20 minutes. I hung up and called back again and he told me that they would send a label and I could bring it in to UPS. Excuse me? I said? You screwed up and sent me someone else's stuff and you expect me to deliver it for you? You can send someone to pick it up. Finally they consented to that. I do not recommend this company. They are fast talkers who don't really give a d**n about their customers.
