Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I had read a previous rip-off report on this landlord (Dardra Potter) yet foolishly took my chances trusting her - including several forewarnings from neighbors. She is a liar and a shady manipulator. She owes me $500 deposit for renting one of her barely tolerable, yet livable mobile homes on Crowder Loop, Tallahassee. I move out the 1st of June 2015. This mobile home did not have heat because the connection line was broken off from the outside LP tank - although the central A.C. did work. The telephone line was also disconnected, so I managed to "rig it" from the outside maintenance box to the inside. The water heater also leaked which caused my electric bill to skyrocket in my 1st month of living there. I stayed there throughout the 6 month lease and cleaned up the place far better than when I received it, after I left. I was assured (by her) that she would send me my $500 deposit back after her "walk through" in early June 2015. She later claimed that she had the $500 check sitting on her desk waiting to be mailed after she returned from her vacation in July - which never happened. I'd contacted her several more times about returning the deposit, and then she would "teasingly" promise to send the $500 (as she was expecting a gratified response).

Dardra posts her rental properties on Craigslist - so beware.

She has several properties in different locales, but her specialty is to rent to unsuspecting and naive Florida State University students across from the campus. When I'd first met her, there was another couple who were interested in renting from her - until she mentioned her name "Dardra". The husband said "Oh! So you're Dardra" "I'd heard about you", which told me that the has a questionable reputation. They wisely left, never to be seen again.

I am a senior citizen who's on a very limited income. Since then, I had left Tallahassee to move to Nevada, which is even more reason she has no intent of returning my deposit. Taking her to small claims would be quite difficult - although I still intend to.

Upon conducting as much research on her as I could via the internet - and without using a subscription service, I've found her to be as cunning and dishonest as most rotten landlords. If you plan on renting from her, please take my advice which is to conduct your own research on people like her.

And for you Dardra? You can expect to see me in court sometime in the future.

Issue resolved - deposit returned

I am pleased to post that Ms. Dardra (landlord) had unexpectedly resolved this issue and returned my security deposit after six months. Unfortunately I cannot find an access point to this website to remove my complaint. While I was residing on her premises, I did note that there seemed to be very contented renters. Her property (area) is clean, well maintained and has very pleasant surroundings. I'm glad that I can once again put my faith in people. Thanks Dardra!
