Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

We had my aunt at Park Vista by Bonaventure: Retirement, Assisted Living, and Memory Carefor a while. We were visiting everyday until our vacation. We were gone a month. When we came back Dot was full of anxiety. They wouldn't let her out of the building the whole time. When she complained they locked her in the dementia ward. We got her out of there pronto. We felt horrible that we had been tricked into leaving her there.

I complained the the police and DSHS and they didn't care. It seems no one cares about seniors in Port Orchard. Put your relatives in another county. The APS agent, Debbie Mark-Corpolongo, said that we should have told our aunt not to walk out of the building before we had left. I told her it was against the law to hold someone in an assisted living against their will. She said that it wasn't true. It is. Washington State law RCW 11.92.190 states that it is unlawful to hold anyone in a facility against their will.  I think that DSHS and APS get a cut for making old people stay in Park Vista.

Never is an assisted living supposed to be a prison. Even people with dementia have rights. You can't force a physopath to stay in a facility. Why does everyone think you can force the elderly into a home? An APS agent should know that the elderly have rights. If she says they don't, she has to be getting paid to NOT help them. Don't trust APS to help.
