My boyfriend and I wanted to get my mothers girlfriend an iguana for an early Christmas present. She is very knowledgable with iguanas. so that day which was the 18th day of november we had called around to pet stores to see who had the less expensive iguanas.

We had found that Debby's Pet Land had iguanas selling for $21.99, so we went to the mall that day. We looked at them they all looked healthy so we picked the smallest iguana in the tank that the pet store had them all in.

So we asked the pet store what we should feed him so that nothing bad happened to him. They told up to give him an apple jell that they give their iguanas to eat.The lady that was helping us had said that they (iguanas) eat that.. so needles to say we bought it and paid $10.99 for it.

So we went to my mothers house and showed Theresa ( my mothers girlfriend) the iguana and she was so extatic. She loves her pets.. And not even a week later the iguana that we bought for Theresa was getting really sick. He wasnt eating really anything, he was sleeping constantly, and he was very sluggish when he was awake.

So I had called Debbys Pet Land and explaind to the manager Jay that the iguana that he sold to my boyfriend and myself was very sick and wasnt well at all. He had told me to put another heating lamp on the iguanas tank. The iguanas tank was already at 80 degrees and it was the perfect temperature.

He said to put another heat lamp on his tank and he should get better. well I called Family Pet and Aquarium in nashua and asked them if the temperature (80 degrees) was okay for the iguana or if it needed to be hotter and they said that it was perfect for him and didnt need to be hotter.

So I let it be for a couple of days and was going to see if he would get better. not at all was he getting better ( worse if anything) we tried force feeding him and everything. well last night the 30th of November the iguana had died:(

So i called back to Debby's Pet Land and had talked to Jay about the iguana dying and he said "There is nothing that we can do for you and thats what the warranty is for" No one said anything to my boyfriend or myself about any warranty

So theresa lost a pet and she is very upset about it, that was her Christmas present and everyone is sad

jay was very rude and shouldnt be a manager anywhere!

A little overreaction

Im not trying to put you down or anything, but it seems that you are completly overreacting. I have purchased pets from Debby's and so have friends, from iguanas to dogs, and every time a warranty had been explained to me. And from my personal experience Jay is a GREAT manager and very people friendly. And, on top of that, he has a great knowledge of reptiles and provides vitamins for them and all. And please, don't complain about spending $10 on food for the living creature you just purchased. Once again, your overreacting and are just trying to find faults. Iguanas can't eat crickets so yea, they need reptomin. Just because you didn't follow the warranty, or ask about anything if you supposidly weren't given one, doesn't make him a bad manager when he says you can't do anything at that point. Actually, it makes him a better manager for following company policies. Im very sorry your iguana died, but in all fairness, like you said the whole tank looked healthy, so you really can't blame the pet store or Jay.
