When you bought your Dell you are given the option of how much Memory to purchase(along with other features). You bought 512MB(1/2 GB) because it was cheaper than having 1GB(or more). That is not the fault of Dell. You took it in to a shop 3 times and all 3 times they stated it needed more memory. So why did you not buy more memory? You could have upgraded the memory after the first time with the money you would have saved by not sending it in a 2nd and 3rd time to the shop. Lack of memory is not a warranty issue. A warranty issue would have been something like a component failing. No componets failed, they are just running slow because of the low memory. As for the minimum requirements for Home Basic it does only require a minimum of 512, the higher versions require a minimum of 1GB. But those are minimum you never want to have just the minimum. Instead of going to 1GB you should have at least 2GB and if your PC can handle 4GB then go to that. So this is not really a RipOff, just a case where you tried to save some money in the beginning and found out you didn't get enough memory.

Well Dell tech support sucks. Did you build the laptop yourself from the website? Did you call them and have them set-up the computer for you?
