With all auto transport companies, there is a clause that states your car is insured DURING TRANSPORT. Being parked at the terminal is not considered transport, that is probably what they are trying to pull on you right now. However, the terminal itself IS insured. You need to go after them as well as DAS. One of the reasons it could've caught fire is the voltage regulator hung when they turned off the motor. This would be considered a flaw in the car, and not covered by their insurance, but they would have to get expert testimony to prove that is what happened. This doesn't help now, but everyime I buy and ship a classic, I call Hagerty insurance company and insure the car before I have it shipped. Then, if something happens, it's fully covered, and they go after the shipping company, which did happen when I shipped a car with DAS. My claim was covered immediately.
