I bought a new Yamaha RoyalStar Motorcycle from Derry Cycle in Derry, NH in April 2007 for $14,500.00. I traded the 2 year old Suzuki Volusia that I purchased from Derry Cycle and was told not to make any more payments. I informed the salesman that I had a payment due in a week. He said; "don't worry about it, we'll pay it off". I love the new bike, it rides great and I was enjoying it and happy as a clam until the mail arrived a month later.

Immagine my surprise when I opened a bill from Retail Services and see that I owe $42.00 in late fees on a paid off bike that I no longer own. Well, I called the dealer and spoke with the business manager, discussed it with him and was told he would look into it and take care of it. After I left, I called Retail Services (the lending institution I financed both bikes through) and they informed me that Derry Cycle had called and gotten a payoff amount from them but had paid it off 3 days late. The kicker is; Retail Services warned Derry Cycle, as I did, that a payment was due in 7 days.

Well, another month went by and I got another bill from Retail Services, with another late charge which brought my total due to $59.60. Needless to say, now I'm a little steamed. No phone calls this time. I went down to Derry Cycle to confront the business manager and the salesman. I politely waited while the business manager finished with a customer and then, showed him the bill and asked him to write me a check for $59.60 and live up to his promise. He got red in the face, his eyes squinted, nostrils flared and he said; (spit came out of his mouth as he tried to scare me) "we don't pay late charges".

I did not expect this reaction. In two years, I spent $25,000.00 on two motorcycles at this dealership. I reminded the business manager that I was told not to make another payment and therefore, feel the late charge is his responsibility. He yelled; "we don't pay late charges". I left his office and saw my salesman across the floor full of bikes and customers, and yelled; Lewie (my salemans name), the business manager won't pay the $59.60 late charges on my trade in bike after you told me not to make anymore payments. Lewie said; "he's the business manager". Now I was getting loud! I reminded Lewie that I bought 2 bikes in 2 years to the tune of $25,000.00 and I can't believe they would lose a repeat customer for $60.00. He started trying to console me and say I must have paid a bill late months ago. I said, I didn't, but even if I did, you promised to pay it off. I told him I wouldn't be buying another bike there, to which he replied; "I hope you don't need us for anything!"

I left, went home paid off the $59.60 and wrote Yamaha USA a letter. Then I called Lewie to let him know I paid his bill. He whinned that all the customers in the dealership left fter me without buying anything. I said; you deserve that and more.
