Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I ordered a part for my Corvette via this Company's Website in early March 2009. The price of the item was listed at $59.00 including shipping. The transaction was completed and my credit card charged for the full amount.

Three weeks later, I received a phone call from Dino, the owner, who told me that he needed my credit card number so he could charge me more for the part. I checked with Master Card who read to me the obligation the merchant has with regard to honoring the sale price on the internet particularly when I was sent proof that the transaction was complete. PLEASE NOTE: THAT IF YOU PURCHASE AN ITEM ON THE INTERNET WITH A CREDIT CARD, THE MERCHANT MUST HONOR THE PRICE QUOTED IF THEY COMPLETE THE TRANSACTION AND SEND CONFIRMATION. THIS IS QUOTED CLEARLY IN THEIR MERCHANT AGREEMENT WITH THE BANK. I called this Company and spoke to the owner, Dino, and explained to him what I was told by MasterCard. He said, "Look, I'll just refund your money."

I explained that he was obligated to send the part at the price agreed to. He refused to honor the price and said "he can't help it that GM is charging more for the part." I explained that when the transaction was completed on his website, the item showed in stock at the quoted price. He then said, "You must be the cheapest son of a b***h not to pay the extra $20 for the part." I said that the issue wasn't me but with him honoring a sale agreement. He then called me a few expletives and hung up on me. Thought you'd like to know about shady business practices and a jerk of an owner.

This person is obviously the type of guy who calls ten different companies asking for prices every time he wants to buy something(even though each company has a website with prices listed, laziness) because he'll argue over every nickel he spends.  When a part is being purchased through General Motors prices are subject to change.  Anyone who purchases parts from an automaker understands this.  They change their prices like people change their underwear.

I don't disagree that Dino should have had some sort of disclaimer explaing that as everything must be idiot proofed these days or some snowflake will throw a crying fit but most people are adults and understand when something like this happens.  To take the time to type a "ripoff report" comment over $20 when you are a Corvette owner(obviously not down to your last dollar) is absurd.  Chevrolet changes their prices constantly.

As the complainer says he's obligated to sell something at the price listed he also has the legal right to refuse to sell anything as well so if I were Dino I'd simply tell this guy to shove off and call someone else.

I have dealt with Dino on several Corvette projects. He has always been more than fair with me and always very friendly and helpful. He, bent over backwards to find the parts I needed and even saved me money on a few repairable damaged parts at a fraction of new parts. You are entitled to your opinion Philip, but you know the saying about "Opinions"!!!

This is obviously a person that will never be happy in life unless he is causing some kind of controversy. We never sent any emails or communicated with this customer since the incident and our last rebuttal. I received an email from this website today stating the information above. I only find it relevant to answer this rebuttal due to the fact that the customer obviously has nothing else better to do with his time. I guess you can't please everyone in life and we are happy to know that our customers know our integrity and how we do business after 13 years. If you have read this far you can make your own conclusions by reading between the lines of truth and deception.

THE LYING KING: Starring Dino Behler

#5Author of original report

Tue, May 17, 2011

Yesterday, I was sitting in my office when an email popped up from Dino Behler (Owner), Dino's Corvette Salvage stating: "I thought (your) article was a nice piece on your part. Anyone that reads it can see the truth. Sorry things didn't work out for you but you should change your attitude and you may get somewhere in life. You get more bees with honey."

I have to say that I was a bit amused that after 2 years a business owner of a purported multi-million dollar business would be so obsessed with my legitimate warning to other patrons that he would actually take the time to send me this pointless email.  The truth about his lack of character must hurt badly.

Please understand this - I had nothing to lose nor nothing to gain by writing my original email about the consumer practices of Dino's Corvette Salvage. I felt compelled and OBLIGATED to other consumers to tell the truth of what happened and share the facts about my experience. I was not belligerent, demanding or combative as Dino alleges. But this report is not about my alleged behavior rather it's about the lack of character of the owner, Dino Behler, who lies about his prices at first (notice he can't even get the math right on his rebuttal, e.g. been in business since 2008 . . . for 12 years) and now is lying to me and to the rest of the world in the hope that he is not exposed for what he really is - a liar, a cheat and a business owner with questionable ethics.

In my 30 year professional career,  I have prided myself as always being honest. If you purchase something, you pay for it. If you strike a deal with someone, you honour it. I have been "stiffed" by bad business owners more times than I care to think of in my life and I am sure I will endure more experiences before I am through.  Thank God, we as consumers are lucky to have a site such as RipOffs.com to share our experiences with the rest of the world to avoid others suffering the same misfortune.

In the end, it's a matter of choice to do business with Dino's Corvette Salvage. By why take the risk  when you have so many choices. Behind their fancy website lies the dark truth. The owner, Dino, lays waiting to manipulate your transaction and cheat you out of your money. I know it first hand. Character is what life is all about and Dino is a man of questionable character and sets a bad example for other legitimate business owners. I feel compelled to share this dark side of a man who asks for your trust in his rebuttal.

Warm regards,

Philip

Our side of the story

This report was recently brought to our attention. I thought it would be in fairness to any consumer reading this report that they should get all the information to help make an informed decision as to the allegations posted in this report. Our company started in December 2008 as an internet based business and has successfully grown to a multi million dollar company in over 12 years. Our goal is to provide good customer service because we understand repeat business is the key to our enormous success. We deal with thousands of customers annually and to recall a certain incident such as this would take some time to remember. In this case I do remember this particular customer based on the attitude the customer portrayed involving this order. Our customer does have one part of the story true. The item in question that was ordered had a price increase by Chevrolet. We notified Phillip of the increase as stated and with much arrogance he demanded and threatened to write this report if we didn't give him the item for the price that he wanted to pay. I politely told him that we would have to refund his money in full and he became very beligerent and verbally abusive. This part of the story is the false accusation that was made in the report. Phillip was the actual agressor and was very combative and disgruntled from the beginning and we chose to give him a complete refund. You can read between the lines to see the truth. If you Google our company name this is the only thing that has ever been reported on the internet in over 12 years of business. Our track record speaks for itself and we are glad to be able to respond to this situation. We would like to thank our loyal customers for giving us aheads up on this report. As the old saying goes " Don't let one bad apple spoil the bunch". God Bless!
