Rip-off Report found that most complaints about DirectBuy were made by non-members who were critical of the cost of membership and the policy that a decision about membership must be made the same day of the open house visit. The policy is there to protect the manufacturers. It ensures their confidential pricing cannot be used by non-members to negotiate better deals with retail stores, thereby protecting the best possible pricing to members. The policy has not changed, but as stated above, new tiers and terms of membership are being offered at participating club locations

Direct Buy Tom Or Jenny The Owners Lied about the direct buy to the customer from the manufactures. They are the middleman. Corona California

I went to the meeting they hold. It is high pressured and they watch you so closely in that building that you feel like your a theif. I was talked into the membership by a couple that were there. Later i found out they knew the guys there? So who were they.

I paid the down payment and was told several times they do not mark the price up from any manufactures prices. RIGHT: I went to a company down the street to check out somethings with a list I had made off the internet. I had been to Sears, Lowes, Best Buy and several other places. They couldn't touch the prices from the lowest price i got from a free membership company.

I bought a double oven 30" convection for the price that was so great that I asked the company what was the deal. It was being sold at cost, YES cost! to them, and WOW what a difference from what COST is to Direct Buy.

Direct Buys mark up is almost the same as any store and your paying the membership fee to be allowed to go in a building. Something is not right with this picture. TELLING ME THE MANUFACTERS TO THEM PRICE IS ONE THING and what they add on is something else. YES THEY DO ADD COST ON TO THE PRICE.

lOOK AT THE SHOW ROOMS and the amount of people who work there. Do they get that free also. RIGHT: MAYBE THE NEWS SHOULD GET INVOLED IN DOING A REAL REPORT ON DIRECT BUY

Still the best rates I've seen

I also did an extensive amount of research before purchasing my items through Direct Buy and Direct Buy still had the best rates compared to the retailers and online-retailers whom products I did not trust anyways. I've had nothing but good experiences with Direct Buy and I'm anticipating many more.

I am responsible for our Direct Buy account. We are a manufacturer in Canada so I am speaking from my experience with Direct Buy Canada. I am also a member at the Direct Buy Toronto North location so I went through the whole sales pitch and yes, I have the patience to go through the binders at the centre. I can absolutely confirm that Direct Buy (Canada) does not markup our prices to its members. In fact, I prepare the product binders that you see in the showrooms. The Direct Buy cost is the price that I am selling to you (the consumer) through Direct Buy. I was told that Direct Buy makes money from the membership fee (it is expensive to join!). Also, the local centre will add something like 7% handling fee for large items such as furniture. There is no handling fee on my products since they are quite small. Direct Buy is a franchise so I am very sure that you'll get great and poor centres due to their customer service abilities. I won't comment on that.. just that the same goes for a fast food chain that has some locations with great service, and other locations with poor service. Again, I'm not making excuses for the centre or the poor customer service, etc. What I am saying is that from my experience with Direct Buy as a manufacturer, there is absolutely no additional cost that they add on. If my binder says Direct Buy/UCC cost is $100, it's $100 to you and that's the price I put in the binder myself.
