My wife oredered Direct TV for a surprise birthday present. Have been a satisfied Comcast cable customer for many years. The only reason for making the change was for my love of NFL football and to get the NFL Sunday ticket.  We are older folks and not real computer savy and my son in North Carolina walked my wife through the process to keep it a secret from me. Installation completed on Wed. October 21. My wife is anal in regards to writing everything down on a legal pad regarding the entire conversation with the sales rep on the phone. After verifying all the packages and the monthly prices for everything , and calling my son to make sure we had everything we needed, she agreed to the deal and placed the order. On Sunday October 25 my son called to tell me about my gift and give me instructions on how to work the remote as well as all the features and then we got on to the big one the NFL Sunday Ticket. When I went to the channel and following his instructions, we discovered that I could not acces the NFL Sunday Ticket !   After numerous tries he suggested we call the 800 number for customer service. At this point my wife was crying and very upset. On the first call the person we got explained that we did indeed have the nfl network and she would connect us with a person that would take care of the issue. The next person on the phone ( we have all the names) said no problem and then came back on and said we did not sign up for or agree to having the NFL Sunday Ticket !!!! My wife at that point gave her the day ,date, times and salespersons name that she signed up with. After a lengthly time on hold , she came back on and informed my wife that the "promo" package that the salesperson signed us up for was over a week  before he signed us up, and we would have to pay an additonal $54.99 if we wanted the Sunday Ticket. My wife then asked to speak to a supervisor , afetr going all through the entire story once more, the supervisor basically said that she could not help us and she could not understand why the salesperson would offer us that pkg a week late. My wife hung up balling her eyes out after getting the address to send in a written complaint to the company. One final note, the message on the calls state that the calls are recoreded and the supervisor agrreed with that staement. When asked if she could review the recording of this sales call to verify what the salesperson said, she stated that they did not save all the recordings !!!  We feel that were lied to to get us to sign up and feel into the trap of a decietful sales person. I have  told my wife to cancel and lets go back to cable and she said that we would have to pay a fee to disconnect.  In my days that was called a" Bait & Switch" tatic. My son stills calls me long distance on Sunday and updates me on the status of my favorite NFL team.

Sorry to hear you also got taken for a ride by direct tv.

As you can guess they told me one thing several times ended up to be something entirely different .

One thing I would like to warn you of an to watch for is so called rebates to get the package price offered  often you dont get them an pay more every month.

How ever you pay be it debit card credit card check either way direct tv saves your account information even if you dont sign up for auto payments .

They in turn will use it to charge you in the end for large amounts even if so called contracts are up.

the only way to stop this is to make sure you cancel the cards used or the account used if done by check .

It should also be done prior to canceling or calling direct tv they will make sure the charges get in there quickly .

I also found out through the bank that the stop payments do not work they will ad a penny drop a penny kinda thing an do it until an amount goes through so again canceling the card ? account is only way to stop companies like that that claim to have the right by the contract you signed or even didnt sign just by accepting the boxes an service .

Good luck to you I would cancel everything  at bank then direct tv i would cancel without paying this fee you didnt aggree to the terms so in fact you didnt aggree to the fee they say you have to pay .

In long run you will come out better paying the cheats less .
