I have had Directv for over a year now. I knew when I got Directv installed that I would have a termination fee if I chose to cancel before my commitment was up. When the tech's installed my system, I signed a little piece of paper that all that information in the fine print. I never sign anything for signing. If I had ordered the system with a live person, that information would have been told to me at the time of order, as it was with my cousin. Now, as for the money being taken out of your account without your permission, you did give persmission when you let them have your credit card to keep on file. That is also stated in the contract that if you owe them money you are giving them permission to take it. If you cancel your contract with Directv before your contract is up, you will pay $20/month for each receiver you have for every month left in your contract. Also, if your equipment is leased, and chances are it is, you will have to pay for them as well if you don't return them because they do belong to the company. You will have 20 days after to cancellation to return them before the money for those will be charged to your account also. Directv is not the only company to do this. Anyone will want their money you owe them if you cancel a contract early. I love my Directv and have never had an issue with them. I read my contract.
