Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
Discover Card thinks they have another success story to add to their long list regarding fraudulent charges added to unsuspecting consumers credit card. How can it be that this company is allowed to attach these charges to my credit card without my permission, and when confronted with my dispute say they have a "taped recording" of my acceptance.

Then Discover Card tells me I am not entitled to listen to this recording because it's "proprietary information". First of all, I, along with many other consumers with this same story would never accept this offer, it's deceitful and manipulating.

I have done a lot of research on this and found many common threads in the many statements I have read on multiple websites. One thing is particularly interesting, the telemarketer asked that the consumer please restate their "yes" response on the recording for their records, however what they were was saying "yes" to was them verifying their address and phone # as they were asking to be removed from the calling list and mailing lists.

That is the only thing I said "yes" to as well, as I was being bombarded with telemarketing calls and junk mailings. Pretty slick! Then we as consumers dispute the charge as we should.

Is it right that the burden be on us to prove we didn't agree to purchase this plan when they say they have taped acceptance that is indeed our voice saying "yes" right??? If we said "yes" it was to answer a question not relevant to accepting this plan.

There has to be protection for us against these companies, we finally got justice regarding the phone companies slamming monthly phone bills. Discover Card has been slamming hundreds of consumers on a much larger scale. There are too many others out there that this has happened to, to just ignore it!

The total they wound up billing me for is $835.00 Who else is out there that has this issue and may not know it. Maybe they have paid of their card not realizing a payment protection plan was part of their balance. Or maybe because Discover charges monthly for this scam, it may be less noticeable on your statement.

I believe that's what they're BANKING on!!! And laughing all the way there. We as consumers can only make an impact in large numbers, if enough of us share our stories we will get noticed, and appropriate action can then take place.

These People Are Lawbreakers

#2Consumer Suggestion

Thu, July 02, 2009

I work for a debt settlement company and we had a lady enrolled in our program and she had one payment left before she went active and we went to work. We had her set up on 24 payments of $300 to settle her $12,000 debt. Discover (which probably mean Swicker and Associates who claim to be attorneys, we will get to that later) ruthlessly pounded this poor lady with phone calls day and night consistently breaking the Fair Debt Collection Act with every call they made to her work (which she says was at least 5 times a day) and at home after 9PM. Instead of calling upon us for help she decided to cancel out of the program. This poor lady called us up shaking and very disturbed as this collection agency, working on behalf of Discover, forced her into 40-50 payments of $300 with interest. Our program carried NO INTEREST. I tried to explain to her how she would be paying $18,900 on her $12,000 debt instead of the $7-8K we were reducing it to. These predators had her so shook up that she completely caved in from them putting the fear of god into her and the perpetual harrassment to which they broke federal laws to complete. Discover is a law breaking group when it comes to collections and their affiliates Swicker and Associates out of Massachusets claim to be attorneys. Pretending to be a customer, I called and asked questions. They said they were a legal team of attorneys. Sounding impressed, I asked them for their Bar number and they hung up the phone. I told this customer she needed to report them instead of paying them. These people are predators and law breakers and hopefully, someone will report them when it occurs to them.
