Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
We should have known that yet another satellite dish company was not conducting fair and honest business practices.

My husband and I were solcited by Dish Network whereas the sales rep. stated that there would be NO CONTRACT, but month-to-month service. We agreed on this pretense only. Unknown to us, Dish Network had sub-contracted a company called "Y Tech Satellite" to install the dish and equipment onto our balcony. No problems there. We were also given a "free" credit of $49.95 on our first months bill just for being new customers. "No strings attached". Yeah, right!! I hated doing this, but Dish Network stated that they required my debit card information in case we damaged their dish and equipment or failed to use it. Six months later, after a few enormous billing statements arrived and were paid; we moved.

The dish was relocated by actual Dish Network employees. Well, atleast their uniforms and the logo on their van stated "Dish Network". All is well, so far, except for their outrageous monthly charges. Our family goes out of town for a few weeks and it slips our mind to pay our bill. Oops. Dish Network interrupts service and cancels on us. Those poops! Fine, except that a few days after that, we notice a $300 charge on my debit card. I contact Dish and I am told to return the equipment to them (at a local office) in order to get a refund. Our money is returned as a debit reversal in our checking account. All is well, now that we have had cable since August 2005. To my dismay, the other day I discover a debit charge for $798.00. What??????!!!!!! The debit charge states that Dish Network is responsible. I contact Dish and I am told that "No, we did not charge your debit card. Then, the Dish Network moron suggests that I contact the original sub-contractor that installed the dish last year. "Y Tech Satellite" of Van Nuys, CA.

I have never heard of this company before until I call them. The rude woman who answers the phone argues that they refunded $299.00 to my debit card then charged $798.00 to my debit, all in one day. She tells me that they are charging me for cancelling my satellite service with them and that we never returned the equipment. Now, as I stated before, we returned the d**n equipment to a Dish Network retail location back in August 2005. Here it is November 25, 2005 and some unknown sub-contractor hired by Dish Network to install their crap has decided that they need our kids' Christmas money right before the Holidays.

Immediately I contact my bank, and they have been very helpful, luckily, since our checking account has not been affected by this fraud.....as of yet anyways. I still had to sit on the phone with my bank for over an hour, fill out a dispute affidavit and fax it to my bank, awaiting the VISA company to try to resolve this mess. The $798.00 is being temporarily returned to our account, courtesy of our bank. Also, I have cancelled my debit card and had a new card re-issued. In the meantime, the bank has told me that since I cancelled my debit card, the "Y Tech" Company or Dish Network will have no access to my account, including the $299.00 that they mysteriously refunded to me for who-knows-what? Merry Christmas to me! Well, for now anyways. What is puzzling to me, is that the "Y Tech" Co that charges us the $798.00 used the Dish Network name for the debit transaction information. Sounds like a big scam to me. I have never signed a contract with any satellite company, nor Dish Network. After, filing a complaint with BBB and contacting my local District Attorney's office on Monday morning, I am hoping that this will be that last we are scammed out of our hard-working money from Dish or their scum-bag affiliates.

Dish Network and a sub-contractor (Y Tech Satellite) successfully debited $300.00 then $798.00 then attempted and failed to debit $1,098.00 without my knowledge or authorization. Of course I did not authorize Y Tech Satellite to deduct money from my account, I had enver dealt or heard of them before! Here is my advice to all of you Post-Dish Network Customers or "Ex-Customers";

IMMEDIATELY CANCEL YOUR DEBIT CARD, CREDIT CARD, whatever!!! Ask your bank to replace your cards immediately. This may have happened once with Dish Network, but do not ever think it will be the last time they will unexpectedly help themselves to your hard-earned MONEY! If you really want to protect yourself from a "surprise monetary deduction" from Dish Network (or their sub-contracted satellite installers) you can also ask that your banking institution close your account and open a new account. My sotry is currently being disputed as stated before in my first report/complaint. I will update my report when the smoke clears the room.

CANCEL YOUR CREDIT CARD OR DEBIT CARD IMMEDIATELY! DO NOT WAIT; IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN WHEN YOU LEAST EXPECT IT

Please contact me if you have also been screwed by Dish Network and let's start a class action lawsuit! The time and money will be well worth it! Thanks for reading this.

UPDATE from Rip-Off Victim

Thu, December 01, 2005

Good News! It took a mere 48 hours for my bank to issue a provisional credit for the $798.00 back into my account. My debit card was cancelled and my bank expedited a new card, which I received only three days later. I have my new card AND a new PIN already! I LOVE MY BANK! I have already faxed my dispute form to my bank and this is what the Bank Rep (works in the Dispute Dept.) has told me; "The bank has dealt with this same issue with Dish Network on countless other occasions (other bank members). My bank will work as a mediator between Dish and VISA. VISA does NOT allow any type of "cancellation fees", "early cancellation fees" or "damaged equipment fees" or even "alleged non-returned equipment fees" to any type of credit or debit card that bares the VISA LOGO on the front of it. Apparently, VISA feels that if a Company intends on charging a Consumer for these types of "fees" then the Consumer should receive a BILL in the MAIL from the Company, explaining the reason for the charges. Ha Ha! Right back at you - Dish Network! The bank has assured me that I will WIN the dispute - no matter what. I hope that my UPDATE helps other Consumers to realize that they CAN FIGHT this battle - and WIN! Best of luck to all of the other Consumers and Dish Customers (present or past) who are also having problems with missing money/funds. Take care!
