I purchased a Yorkie/Silky cross puppy from this establishment on December 19th, 2009.  I should have known better than to walk into a Pet Store, but I "just wanted to look."  I walked out with a dog an hour and a half later having fallen in love with this one little one. Big mistake!

After getting her home, she had abnormal stool for a while, so I got it tested at my vet. She tested positive for a bacterial and parasitic infection in her intestines - two prescriptions later and some lovely vet bills. The type of parasite (Giardia) is known to be commonly acquired by animals who drink tainted water in Alberta!  I thought I was buying a local dog.

ALSO, I paid $1200 for this dog only to find out two days later that ALL her siblings were listed on Kijiji for over $200 less ($995).  I guess we dressed too well when we went that day, and showed a little too much interest in our now puppy, because we did ask for a better price, but Alicia told us that due to their agreement with the pup's breeder, their prices held firm. Yah! Firm - as long as you can see someone who can afford more than what you are asking!

This isn't even the worst of it, the saga continues...

After calling several times to speak with Alicia about the above issues, and getting no reply, we called again and happened to catch her when she answered the phone.  We lodged our complaint over the phone and there was no explanation provided, just studders and awkward silences.

So, on the following Saturday I went down to the store to speak with her in person (lab reports, vet bills, and flyers in hand). Perhaps she'll be more willing to compromise if we are face-to-face and I go about this a bit more diplomatically?  Nope! I offer my side again, she just stares at me and replies meekly that she is not doing anything for us.

I am so motivated at this point to let others know what has happened that I stand in front of the store to inform would-be customers about my experience with them.  Within 30 minutes I am standing there speaking with three couples who are all dissatisfied (furious was more like it) customers of Doggie World Daycare.  Two of the three people have purchased pups that have the deadly Parvo Virus.  Neither are expected to make it through the night!  This virus is extremely contagious and is highly likely to infect all the other pups who share the same living quarters as an infected dog.  Also, the virus can live in the environment for several months, so it is practically impossible to get rid of once it's going around.

These people know about this virus. They know that these customers' puppies have the virus, and yet on that day they rolled out a sidewalk sign that read "Puppies for Sale, Boxing Week Specials."  I don't think it's much of a stretch to assume that these people are KNOWINGLY selling sick dogs to unsuspecting customers. (HEY Alicia, if you are reading this, I have witnesses to back up everything I am saying. If you think you may want to sue me for slander, TRY ME!!!)

I am in contact with the other customers' whose dogs have Parvo and will be touching base to see how everything unravelled. At this point, I don't care about my measly $350, which I initially went in there for.  This goes way beyond me, and this is why I wrote this report.  I wish I could have been warned.

In my humble opinion these people need to get their business license revoked, and have a criminal investigation brought upon their so-called Doggie Daycare.

I too bought a puppy from this establishment but I purchased my puppy back in August, the place that you are describing doesn't sound like anything that I saw when I was there.  I feel very bad for the people that purchased the sick puppies and now I don't know what to think of my dog that I purchased there. But I think my "alarms" should have gone off when I asked very specific questions, as in who was the breeder?  They avoided t he question but only said that the breeder was from Alberta, I bought that answer only because when doing the hunt for my Chocolate Lab, it seemed like a lot of breeders were situated in the prairie provinces. It upset me when I first heard about this but I think I may have lucked out. My dog is very healthy and there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with him. I do however question the vet that the store sends you to when you purchase the puppy, I had a really weird feeling about the vet, not the quality of the dog I bought. . It seemed like he processed all of us that day as fast as he could.  When I bought my pet, I believe 6 other people walked out with a new puppy as well, we all went to the same vet and were very excited about our new addition.  I have a stinking suspicion that the vet is in bed with this doggy world daycare and should be investigated as well.

I was on Doggie World Daycare's website a few weeks ago and it said they were closed for renovations until January 21st. I checked back today and the website no longer exists. Hopefully more people read your comments and something can be done about people like them. Who knows what happened to all the puppies they had because up until January 7th they were still posting adds on Kijiji.
