I bought 3 Commercial Grade doors from these guys just over 2 years ago. They cost me over $4,000. first the guy who installed them did a poor job. within a few weeks they weren't working right and difficult to lock, close the door etc..... so they had to come out and fix it. i shoulda known then something wasn't right for long term.

now fast forward just 2 years after install and the bottom lock they put on hasn't been working right, it literally feels like it is going to break off soon. it is loose and wobbly and sometimes sticks when you go to turn it and try and lock it. . the paint finish on the locks started peeling within months after install note worthy. it looks like how you get a sunburn and start peeling, this is what it looks like on my lock which is the front door to my business. Looks horrible.

So first the round lower lock started acting funky about 6 months ago, now it is getting worse by the week, but now the deadbolt is starting not to work. When you turn key to lock it, and then try and take out key it sometimes unlocks the deadbolt. so you got to keep playing with it to make sure the deadbolt stays locked. MInd you that this is the very Front door to my business.

I called them up and told them the issues today and the first words out of their mouths were "we only offer a 1 year warranty" and you got to pay us a service call to come out. i have locks on my house for 20 years that have never had an issue, and here i buy commercial grade doors, spend over $4000 and 2 years later the locks are faulty????

they quote me a price just to come out for the service call\ which is very high.

Sounds to me by their scripted answer that they get a lot of calls that happen to be just out of warranty as they were so quick to keep focusing on their 1 year warranty script. I don't know about you but it is a door. if the product isn't of poor quality or defective you could give a 10 year warranty and it wouldn't matter as you are not going to have any issues. i have owned my home for 20 years and i never had a issue with a door in any place i lived.

i then call a locksmith who has been here before changing keys for us and i told him the issues and he said it is because of the cheap locks they put on. he said they are like the cheapest locks you could put on and that is why they are faulty now. he is a locksmith and knows the quality of different locks out there and he said without a doubt these are very cheap locks that they put on my doors.

He quoted me a price for high grade locks and his service call and his price is cheaper than just their service call to come out, not counting what they would charge to put new locks on and no way i am buying locks from them since they sold me crappy ones in the first place. I cant believe after such high price on these doors that they would put such cheap locks on them. Commercial Grade doors should come with High Quality locks in the first place. i told them when i bought this building that i wanted everything to be top of the line so no one would break in. I thought because of the very high price that they charged me that i was getting what i paid for. they took me for a ride.

Warranty or not something like this is a NO Brainer and they should honor and fix it for FREE as there is NO way these locks on the front door of my business, on commercial grade doors should be failing just after 2 years of purchase.

So if you are looking for a high price and low quality, then Doors of Pontiac is for you.

i would keep looking if i were you for another company.

Hello. We would like to thank you for your posting. We have read and examined it carefully. We have used this as a learning tool. We are deeply disappointed that we could not provide you with a good job. Our labor warranty is a 1 year warranty, which we did provide you with, as we did come out whenever you needed us in that 1 year period.

On your particular application, we provided a Grade 2 (light duty commercial) lock. We felt this was adequate for your needs and were concerned that the Grade 1 (heavy duty commercial) would have been too heavy for the door. I wish you would have sent us the pictures of the locks first, as with this type of peeling, they are covered in full under the manufacturer warranty.

Once again, we would like to thank you for your posting and your business. We have implemented a policy to do better in the future.

Thank you,

Doors of Pontiac
