Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I wanted to get my kids a puppy. We found the perfect dog at a puppy store. they were asking $800. I didn't have that kind of money on hand so we had decided not to get her that is until they offered to finance us through DUVERA. The pet store misled me on how much I would be financed on and when I reviewed my contract I found that this finance company was attempting to charge me an interest rate of 189%. I immediately called my military instilation's legal office. I went over a few different legal acts that were set into place to protect active duty military personnel from predetory lendors. I emailed DUVERA and they called me back and basically told me very rudely that they didnt care of I was active duty or that the laws set in place forbid them from charging me over 36% interest. They found a loop hole and will continue to charge me what they please. I am still trying to figure out if my legal office can help me but I am completely ashamed of this company. They are true scam artists and the woman who called to let me know they found a loop hole was very rude and had a bad attitude. I hope the sleeze people who run and work for this company have a great christmas. my family sure wont considering, out of an $800 loan I will end up paying out $2,400 which will put $1,600 in this companies pocket. Your welcome! I'm fighting for your right to rip off hardworking American people DUVERA!

To a single-income single mother whose kids want a puppy....so instead of going to the local shelter and saving one from being gassed goes to a freaking pet store and buys one for $800 on credit.  You idiots can't be saved from yourselves.  That money could have been used to start a college fund, or for new clothes for the kids, or a rainy-day fund-- but no, you've got to spend $800 plus interest on a PUPPY you could have got for one-tenth that amount (just pay for the shots) at the local pound.

I have no tears to shed for selfish, stupid and above all status-hungry idiots who fork over big money for Just The Right small mammal that will show well for the neighbors.

All I can say is WOW! Robert and Jim have the same attitiude as that ***** Lisa that I had the displeasure of dealing with on the phone. It is VERY OBVIOUS that these two individuals are on DUVERA'S payroll. Nobody in their right mind that had any life at all would put this much effort into discrediting a military mom's experience with such an unscrupulous pile of crap company... unless they were being paid! I DID read my contract. I DID know what I was signing up for. I Did know that the interest rate of 189% would NOT go into effect until the 90 day promotion had passed. I DID NOT know that this piss-poor excuse of a company would, for no explainable reason, spit back a payment I had made, only to screw me at the end telling me that the "90 days same as cash promotion went out the window with a ANY returned payment." I found this out at the end of 80 days when I checked my account with DUVERA and saw that they still showed a balance AFTER I had paid my $383 back to them. Criminals of this sort have no place in the financial business world! So go ahead and choke on this one Robert and Jim. (or just do the world a faver and choke on a bowl of dicks!) I am actually curious to see what kind of half baked excuse for Duvera you will come up with this time!

Almost like clockwork when someone doesn't like what was said, they start to "embelish" their report to try and make themselves look better.  Seriously, I wouldn't be surprised if your next update you cured all cancer, solved the homeless situation, took out ISIS, and walked on water.

You keep bringing up your Military Status and how they are being unethical to the Military.  So are you saying that they have different rates for Miltiary and Civilians?  Or do you just not care what rate a civilian gets because they aren't as special as you?

You talk about how you have an excellent credit score and pay all your bills on time?  Okay, so why didn't you use one of your many credit cards? Let me guess you don't "believe" in credit cards?  Or perhaps you do have them but with your excellent credit score you didn't have enough available to make this purchase?  But even if you didn't "believe" in credit cards you could have applied for one, used a balance transfer(or cash advance) and the interest would have been a fraction of the rate you signed up for.  But that was too simple for you...right?  Of course because you took responsibilty for your actions and then tried everything you could to get out of it.

You wrote how you were going to have (notice future tense) pay them $1600 in Interest.  Yet just about 24 hour later you go onto how you were able to obtain an advance and pay them off.   That is pretty fast turn, wouldn't you say?  Or did the military find your story so compelling that they woke up their senior command to make sure you didn't pay a single extra dime in interest for this pet?

Where's your ethics now?

By the way personally my "ethics" don't allow me to purchase a dog at a Pet Store where the dog you bought was bread for one purpose...to be sold, I look at my local shelters and rescue organizations.  But it's all about ethics...right?

I filed reports like I said with the appropriate companies who deal with unethical companies like duvera who do dirty practices to service members so you can try to discredit what I said but I wouldn't have been able to file formal complaints without a military status so nice try on that but I have integrity and obviously my comment on ethics really hit a nerve. One thing the military taught me is that not everyone is military friendly and look out for my wingman. So I will ensure no other service member has to deal with this.

Try to cry fake and fraud but one search of duvera on the internet and not one single positive review on any website but you're probably right it's just some crazy conspiracy and I have nothing better to do but try and pull a fast one on this company with my awesome credit score. Alert the press! Now I'm going to continue on with my life as I said I learned my lesson and will hopefully prevent any other service member from making this same mistake. Now again I said good day sir!

I forgot to mention you tried to justify the hight interest rate by saying "high risk borrower" I actually have a pretty great credit score. In fact when I took my credit report to my legal office they said "why in the world would you have ever gone with this finance company you had a lot of options available and you could have gotten an 'ethical' interest rate" and please do a little more research into both of the things I mentioned there is more than what you reference especially about SCRA including deployments. I did already deal with the pet store the fact of the matter is that if Duvera were an ETHICAL company they would have given me an interest rate I deserve. I'm a single mom I serve my country proudly on a 1 income home and I have never missed a payment to any company.

I feed the homeless and I help build homes for habitat for humanity. I must be mistaken though. I am the dirt bag because I didn't hold a microscope to my contract with DUVERA. I'm glad you seem so smug about the "it's been pushed back so we can screw active duty all we want" there have been a lot of revisions to this in the past 2 years. I guess I messed up not getting a law degree and assuming companies like DUVERA would have morals and ethics. This has been a pretty bad experience for me but I'm glad I've learned this lesson now rather then when I leave for my deployment and wonder why I'm still paying for my dog.

I've already paid off the amount of my loan since I've been paying blindly and I'm lucky that the military at least had my back to front a lump sum payment to pay it off and be done with this company. I wouldn't have been so upset with this company had I been treated with respect and dignity but unfortunately this company doesn't exhibit any of those traits and unfortunately the military cannot do business with companies like that. I bid you well and I hope you have a great day. I have 2 beautiful babies who are healthy and growing up blessed. Now I say good day sir!

Robert is right on target.  However, I suspect this is quite possibly a FAKE report.  Notice the sympathy points...a puppy for children and the big, bad loan representative treated the poor, downtroden military person poorly.  The writer thought we were too stupid to figure out their reference to the NDAA 2007 had NOTHING to do with personal credit matters!  Would a representative for a loan company blatantly tell someone they found a loop hole?  Not hardly.  I think this is a FAKE REPORT.  The writer is no doubt trying to discredit this company because they have turned on the collections machine.

Don't bother saying it...I don't work for them either.

You can call me whatever you want, it doesn't change the fact that I was right on in what I said.  This all comes down to you failing to actually read and understand what you were signing.

You say that the "wrong things were circled".  Okay that is on the sales associate at the Pet Store, if you are saying that they defrauded you then perhaps you should write a report on them.  All this company does is finance you per their terms, they didn't sell you any animals nor did they circle the "wrong things".

The law you are refering to is NOT the NDAA 2007, your close but not quite.  The specfic part is actually the Military Lending Act that was passed in 2006.  It restricts the Interest rate on things such as Payday loans, title loans, and Tax Refund anticipation loans.  It does not cover any other type of debt, so the loophole you are refering to is that the loan you have is not one of those.  Now, there is another law attempting to be passed that will expand this, however it has been pushed off now until at least early 2016.

You can see this as defending this company if you want, and if that is what you think nothing I say will change that.  But the other fact is that yes they are an extreamly high rate.  But unless you can find a loophole to cover their loophole a totally legal rate.

Now, let me point out a few other things to you.  You did not provide any details as to the amount other than you are paying 189% interest on a loan of $800, and that you will have about $1600 in interest.  From that I came up with some numbers...

Figuring 18 monthly payments, your monthly payment will be around $135/month.

However, if you just add about $15/month to your payment based on this, you then pay it off in 12 months and only pay about $1000 in Interest.

If you are able to pay another $50(approx $180) you turn that 18 month loan into an 8 month loan with only around $660 in Interest.

Trolls

I love how almost ALL of the Duvera reports are being trolled. I was hoping to get a response. The representative I talked to from their legal team was blatant about how they got around the 36% and even had a condescending attitude and laugh about it. I take full responsibility for signing the contract after the wrong figures were circled and I was assured everything would be handled but didn't see it in writing. It's cool I filed a report with the consumer reporting companies that handle specific companies who scam military personnel and I'm hoping to have this company black listed for service members. The fact of the matter is that in 2007 it was added that companies like this who do these dirty deeds aren't able to raise rates to over 36% you obviously have a computer to troll this website so look it up. Look specifically for predatory lending NDAA 2007. I doubt I will get any help for my dealings with this company but that's okay lesson learned I'm just going to keep routing all of this up to ensure this doesn't happen to anyone else. I take responsibility for what happened he told me 18.9 and circled a bunch of stuff and then said I'd only end up paying a couple hundred over the original price. I guess it was nice seeing the smiles on my kids faces after having a hard last year so I was distracted and didn't take extreme measures to protect myself and my family and now this is what happens. Thank you for your kind words of caring and your sarcastic attitude. God bless you I feel like you could really use some positive words in your life.

Of course it is a high interest rate..but

Of course their Interest rate is high, that what happens with Sub-Prime lenders who approve high risk borrowers.

But let me ask you a question.  Did they use special ink that change all of the information after you signed it, perhaps they used magical ink that only appears after you sign the agreement.  You say no it wasn't like that.   Well then how come you didn't read the terms of the loan BEFORE you signed?

By the way, can you please let us know what law sets the maximum interest rate for military personnel to 36%? And exactly what loophole they used to get out of this law.  Because I am well aware of the SCRA(Serviceman's Civil Relief Act) which caps it to 6%...but ONLY for debt incurred BEFORE you were put on active duty.
