Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
My son brought in his 96 honda for an estimate on some body repair work. After getting the written estimate they called and said that it would require a whole lot more in the way of parts. We went in together and determined that the total cost of $1700 was way to much for a car of this age and asked if they could just do a partial job. We were told that the TOTAL price for the partial job would be $900. We had them put this in writing. When we picked up the car they said that the total price was $2300 and that the $900 was just for parts. Hand written on the estimate for $1700 is "Repair and replace parts included at $900"

Considering that we had asked SEVERAL times for a written estimate for the total cost my son and I were amazed. After several minutes of discussion the manager starting singing a song "money for nothing" to see if we would get upset. He is the most unprfessional person I have ever met, and for him this seems to be just business as usual.

I've discussed this with Maaco Customer Relations, but while they agreed that the bill is misleading, they do not have the authority to force the manager to change his misleading billing proceedures. She tried several times to get the bill adjusted, but she didn't get anywhere with the manager because it is a franchise.

Tue, December 24, 2013

Effective December 2013 the old owner lost his franchise and new owners are now operating the shop. We apologize for the bad experiences which this customer and others had at this location in the past. The store is now under the same ownership of several other Maacos and includes the Maaco in Charlotte on South Blvd which we are proud to say is a 2013 Super Service Angie's List Award Winner. We look forward to being able to service the people of the Raleigh area with great customer service, quality and all at a good price. Please come by and let us show you the difference.

Sincerely, All the Employees and Management at 5100 Atlantic Ave, Raleigh NC (919)872-6380

Neil Bergman repair order on 1996 Honda

#3REBUTTAL Owner of company

Tue, January 20, 2009

On May 6, 2008 Niel Bregman asked that Maaco complete an estimate on significant front end damage to his 1996 Honda. The shop provided an estimate based on what was visible on the vehicle. Neil Bergman approved the repair and was told the shop would contact him if any additional damage was noted, or when the vehicle was completed. The body repair Tech removed the exterior damaged parts of the vehicle and found additional damage, that would cost approx $1700.00 if repair with new parts from the dealer. We asked Neil Bergman to come to the shop, look at the damage that was found behind the front end damaged parts and to advise the shop what he wanted to do. Neil Bergman showed up at the shop as scheduled with his Dad in tow. His Dad took over the dialog about the additional damaged to the vehicle. Through the use of repair vs replace and aftermarket parts vs Dealer parts, Maaco agreed to complete the supplemental (additional) repairs for $900.00 to keep the additional repair as low cost as could be done. Dad approved the supplemental (additional repairs) and he had the shop manager sign-off on the supplemental repair at $900.00. The shop completed the original repair and supplemental work as approved and advised Neil Bergman that the vehicle was ready to be picked up. Neil and his Dad showed up to pick up the vehicle. Dad had an issue with the total repair cost on the vehicle. Dad only wanted to pay the supplemental (additional) repair items, not the primary repair that Neil Bergman had approved. We asked Dad, how would anyone reasonably believe that the written bill for the primary damage that had been approved, plus the written additional damaged that had been approved, would cost less then the primary damage alone. Dad's statement just doesn't make sense. Neil Bergman approved the repair on the vehicle, Dad got involved, plowed over the adult son, and approved the supplemental work. Then tried to hardball the shop into doing approved work for free, after the work was completed to save face on the approach he took with the shop. This is a great example of too many cooks spoil the broth. We appreciate all our customers, the best ones take the time to understand everything they are asking us to do to their vehicle. We strive to satisfy our customer's needs, and will go way above the call, to a reasonable level. Maaco of Raleigh is a quality certified shop with a strong following of satisfied customers since 1973.
