Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
3 months, 1544 dollars, and no operable vehicle. But, hey I've got no right to complain, because Eagle spent way more than that trying to make good on their 3 attempts to honor their service and parts warranty. So we're both victims when you think about it! Plus, the tech said it was working fine when he test-drove it. So obviously I must have done something to the gearbox when I backed it out of the parking space! d**n idiot customers. Don't even got no transmission repair certifications and they think they know whether a car's been fixed or not.

This has been typical of Tim Kilpatrick's ( Service manager at Eagle Transmission in Mesquite TX ) reaction to my one-sided notion of customer satisfaction -- one that focuses on results, not "making a good effort".

I knew I needed major transmission repairs, so I put my car into Eagle for diagnosis. As I expected, they quoted a price of around 1800-2000 dollars for a rebuild. Being unemployed, I needed to save a few bucks, so I also inquired if they would install a used transmission. Nope. Well, at least until I informed them that I had found a shop that would. Then it was a whole different story. Mr. Kilpatrick offered to locate and install a used transmission with a 30-day warranty for $1544.

After this replacement started leaking, I had it towed back to the shop and they offered to honor the warranty and replace the previously installed unit. But this replacement unit didn't seem to work once I showed up at the shop...nor did the next "replacement replacement"...or the one after that. Funny, they all seemed to be working earlier that afternoon...gee, anyone think that maybe they were trying to get me to shuck out some more money for a rebuild?

Mr. Kilpatrick's answer to every inquiry or complaint was something along the line of "That's why I hate installing use...I mean JUNKYARD....transmissions! You don't seem to understand that I tried to do you a favor....hey, I'm way over budget on this already, so you're not the only one who's making a sacrifice here! " After the last failed effort, he simply decided that the only thing to do would be for me to remove the vehicle from the shop, with this little pearl of wisdom:

"And we'll just call it even."

Huh? No offer of a refund. Hey, they worked on it right? Apparently Mr. Kilpatrick feels that transmission repair is a "journey", not a destination.

So apparently, Eagle Transmission in Mesquite, TX isn't just a transmission repair facility: it's also a think tank forum for some revolutionary economic theories:

1. Customers need to realize that without businesses, there would be no place to shop for goods and services, hence no consumers.

2. Customers should realize that their obsession wih "satisfaction", refunds, warranty repairs and other bottom-line threatening demands threatens the very lifeblood of commerce: the business.

3. Customers and businesses must work together for the greater good. For example, while I, as an individual customer, may have lost 1544 dollars, Eagle Transmission -- which provides services to many, many customers -- lost much more than that in parts and labor costs attempting to satisfy my irrational obsession with "satisfaction".

Stay away from these clowns and give your money to someone else.

David's response to Anthony was ridiculous. "I handle most of the complaints for Eagle Transmission at the Eagle Rowlett location." So, what's the point. Anthony had business w/ the Mesquite Location & had nothing to do w/ Rowlett or Rockwall. He knows "that some customers seem to stretch there stories a bit". First off it should be "their" & ARE YOU GOING TO SAY I STRETCHED MY STORY - TOO? I have times / dates / quotes for every day this car was in this shop besides we go in threes to the shop for verification that we all HEAR the same thing. WASN'T DAVID FROM ROCKWALL AN EMPLOYEE??? Bet that got you a raise or atta - boy award for saying all this BULL... You don't EVEN know the situation & are not EVEN addressing the situation at hand only your opinion that Anthony was not being honest. Well, try ME. I'm being honest - want to see my notes. My job intales that I be VERY DETAILED / NOTE oriented. So, I challenge you to prove me wrong. This Eagle Transmission location in Mesquite, TX will make you lose your religion. They refuse to take resposibility & they accuse you of RACING, TEARING THINGS UP & NOT KNOWING ANYTHING ABOUT ANYTHING.... And their favorite words are "WHAT ARE YOU INCINUATING"..........

We went to Eagle Transmission in Mesq. on 4/17/04 & had a T5 rebuilt & supplied our clutch kit & overhaul kit. This cost us a total of $1,326.01. The car was in their shop until 4/19/04 & they NEVER returned one call to me at any given time that they said they would. I have noted every conversation / time that I had to repeatedly call them to find out ANYTHING. Gerardo continually promised to call me back & didn't. Then we had to take the car back in on 8/2/04 due to it was leaking fluid around the rear seal. They ruined a brand new gel battery (red top) while in their garage. They charged it for a very long time while we were waiting & finally got it started but we left & it died & would not restart / jump off or hold a charge. We had to replace the battery & Joe said that it was not their fault or problem. Gerardo again promised to call me back to let me know when the job was finished & NEVER did, so we just showed up @ closing time to get the auto. The transmission began to not shift good from 1st to 2nd & we again put it back in the shop on 8/25/04 & they told us they would know something the next day. They never called us back. My husband called at closing time to find out they had not even looked at it since they had "paying customers" coming in. Joe told him he would know something by 11 am the next morning on 8/27/04. I called at 11:05 am & they had not had time to look at it yet. They would call me back at 2 pm. I threw such a fit w/ them about not returning a call since April till Gerardo did call me at 2:10 pm to let me know they had the trans. on the table but no news as to what was wrong with it. He would call me back in 10 min. At 3:10 pm I called back to talk to Gerardo & he began to blame the problem with "their gears" breaking on 2nd gear being caused by a defective kit we provided for the overhaul kit. (EVEN THOUGH THIS KIT WAS DEFECTIVE - IT WAS NOT REPLACED & REMAINS IN THE TRANS. NOW & IN THE AUTO) So, they replaced 2nd gear, 1-2 slider, fiber synchros, RESEAL TRANS. This cost another $800 & they reduced the labor cost for me. WOW!!! Besides, when the guy from the shop drove my son home in the car to test drive & take it back to the shop he was being cooled down by the A/C. Well, by the time we picked up the car 3 days later the A/C had been totally discharged while sitting in their shop. As well as the hood pins were not put back on the same way as the driver leaves them. This stunt cost me $316.40 at a nearby shop the same day to fix. Joe refuses to take any responsibility for their parts or actions & can only blame waht we brought in as being DEFECTIVE even though he did not remove them. Well, as of Sunday 8/29/04 - GUESS WHAT? The part above about RESEAL TRANS. Well, guess they forgot to do that. It is leaking again & has permatex stringing out of it. Like melted gum. I call Gerardo again to let him know what is happening & he implies that we may have done something to the transmission & doesn't know if it will cost to have anything else corrected & can't promise me they will get it out in a day if we deliver it to them because "they have paying customers". When I question this as I have paid over $2,100 to them & what am I - he says he didn't say it. We are going back up there in thr morning to start over. WE DO HAVE JOBS & LIVES TO GET ON WITH...... I note every conversation I have w/ them & they will LIE & TWIST THE TRUTH. Believe me, I know what Anthony is going through & if you have any sense - you will not go here to have this done to you. It is all TRUE. I don't care what their cronies write back in defense.

I handle most of the complaints for Eagle Transmission at the Eagle Rowlett location. I have not had any correspondance with Mr. Anthony. I can say that Eagle in Mesquite handles more than 6000 customers per year and has less than a 1% complaint ratio. That is absolutley outstanding. I don't know if Mr. Anthony's complaint is legit, but i do know that some customers seem to stretch there stories a bit. I have worked with Eagle Transmission in the Dallas area for more than 20 years and will continue to do so. They are integress, and have good morals and character. I have also seen Eagle Transmission be very generous towards helping needy people in the community. I would recomend this company to anyone.
