My husband went in on his own and was subjected to exact same routine. He succumbed however, and bought the car. When I objected to sales manager they said they "did not need my signature!) My name is on title of old car?? They stuck him with alarm system too! We filed report with atty general's office, better business bureau and newspapers. (Of course the "bull" is a cash cow to them and they will not pursue it!) Suggest you Talk to Manager, Bobbi DelVecchio and try to resolve. The Ford we bought had a factory installed system!!! They refunded and straightened it all out. Also write Hyundai or whichever company?

I'm really curious as to what you thought was going to happen to the remainder of what you owed on the trade? Do you think it was simply going to vanish? Any amount you owe STILL has to be paid. The dealer can't take title to the trade until its paid. Whatever they pay then gets figured into the deal so that you reimburse them. In effect, you will be paying for two cars! You can avoid being upside down by putting more money down and/or financing for a shorter term. What they did with the keys is just another example of why the car business needs to be FUMIGATED. If that crap was to happen to me, I'd ask the salesman to follow me to the showroom where there were other potentiall customers hanging around. I'd pull out my cell phone with 911 keyed into it and say in a voice loud enough to be haerd by others: "I told you I want my keys! You're NOT playing this game with me! You have one minute to bring me my keys or I press the "send" button and have the police get them for me." None of us needs this crap. Spread the word about this store!
