RE: EC Engines, San Bernadino, CA

I had my engine rebuilt at EC Engines in San Bernardino. Estimated cost was $995.00 to remanufacture my engine. I was then told my engine was not usable, I would have to replace it with a different engine all together. That charge was an additional $950.00.

Trusting their knowledge I agreed to pay, providing they would return my old parts back to me when the job was completed. When the "okay to pick up" call came in, I was informed of a accident that had occurred with my truck, which caused scratches to my right side passenger door, at which time they agreed to take $79.00 off of the balance owed. When I arrive I found not only a scratch to the door, but a large hole in the fender portion behind it. I did not feel $79.00 was going to cover the cost, we agreed for them to send it to a body shop, and have the repairs done at their expense. I also noticed my exhaust pipe hanging without any support, they also agreed to repair that.

Again the "okay to pick up" call came in, and I went to pay the balance, and finally pick up my truck. It was then that I discovered they did not replace my engine, but in fact used the same engine that I was told was not good in first place. They assured me I was mistaken, but could not provide me with my original parts that I asked for. As we discussed my dissatisfaction I noticed there were several other people there with the same complaint, or one similar.

One man gave me a brief tale of his problems, and how this visit was his fifth to their shop. We exchanged numbers when I told him about your help center. Frustrated, and afraid of leaving my property with them any longer I paid the balance, and took my truck home.

My original estimate was 995.00 the bill came out to 2141.23, and I don' feel the job was complete because of the ticking I hear as it is being driven. It seems to me their paper advertisement is a ploy of luring people in to steal from them.

I AM IN NEED OF YOUR HELP! I would like to let people know about their scam, in hopes no one else will have to go through their harsh, and costly game. I am sure the are other people that have been tricked. Hopefully they were successful in getting their money back, or having the job completed in full.

Again PLEASE HELP!

Sincerely,

Mike
