Complaint Review: Ecoki Construction LLC - Wichita Kansas

Recently noticed that Gred Edwards Construction, or Edwards Construction of Kansas is now operating under a new name, Ecoki Construction LLC.  Mr. Edwards left many local companies in town out to dry for hundreds of unpaid bills for material, and labor.  His scam is to take a large down payment, do as little paperwork as possible and then not show up for weeks or at all. The work I have seen done is very poor and substandard. Wichita Kansas BBB rated Greg Edwards Edwards Construction an F rating. You can easily look this up, it is public information.  Ecoki is new and has yet to have a rating. The new website which is completly cookie cutter set up, stock photos of designer homes none in Wichita, claims 35 years in business and experience. Nothing could be farther from the truth. This is clearly a high school drop out, (that can be verified too through public records) who worked for a couple contractors in town here and after abrupt firings has made minimum wage doing odd jobs here and there. The guy likes to talk, and what a bragger! To hear him talk one would think he designed and built the Epic Center!  Windows, Doors, Siding, Roofing, you name it this guy claims he can do it, the hard truth is that he has little to no experience and when you have to call him back to rework the first go around he runs and is hard to catch. Make sure you do not fall for the payment in advance.  If a contractor cannot afford to go out and purchase his materials without a deposit from you then find a new one.  He likes to claim the deposit is to buy matierials. Since he owes everyone in Wichita it is impossible for him to obtain credit so in his case it's true, he does need your money to buy materials.  But it's likely he won't show up.  This is a one man show. He works with some rag tag part time helpers, and a woman who appears to be a girlfriend, wife, or employee but she is along the same lines as a high school drop out. Very little education and experience. And it shows.  The work I contracted for was lest 70% complete, we hired another company to finish and upon asking around we found very poor reports from people at Star Lumber, and 2 other local small contractors who were also called before to come in and fix his mistakes.  He also has some scam going with a friend or relative who is an insurance adjuster for state farm or american family all state I am unsure. The guy will recommend him for work for a percentage, or they operate under another name LG Edwards Construction. Lonnie and Greg.   

Just warning you to beware. A lot of small time scammers out there and this is one of the top scammers so just steer clear. Pay only with a check, no cash and make sure to get a dozen references. Not just customers, call suppliers too and find out if the bills are paid and make sure to get lien releases from them all if you do wind up with this gang.
