Ed Humphrey, convicted of fraud/theft by deception in NE and NJ, and questioned by police in Davie, FL, may have moved on to any of several areas, based on cross-linked e-mail and phone information he's used at new locations.

Ed's usual operation involves collecting advance fees and not performing/finishing contracting services. In one NJ case (out of dozens), he removed a roof from a home in order to begin construction of a second story, but failed to return, or even to tarp the peeled-open building, leading to financial ruin for the family involved. Frequently, when the appearance of at least some activity is required, Ed will hire unskilled and undocumented day laborers, and pass them off as roofers/carpenters/plumbers or the like -- with disastrous results.

Following his arrest in NJ (outcome uncertain), he fled to Florida; when his adventures there ("Boultes Contracting/Florida Roof Doctor") were exposed and the business' license revoked, he appears to have moved on again, probably to E Flores Roofing in Corpus Christi, TX. A listing for that business includes Ed's old e-mail as a point of contact, and several phone numbers which lead to other roofing/contracting listings:

EFA Waterproofing, Brooklyn, NY
EFI - Englund Family Inc., MN
Effler Builders, VA

As for me, I was within hours of giving him money when another victim reported that he had vacated his NJ offices and discarded all the paperwork.. including my contract... in black garbage bags at the curb. He threatened that victim with bodily harm for sounding the alarm, so be careful -- he's made a career of this, and is dangerous when cornered.
