Complaint Review: Edward Humphrey - Kenilworth New Jersey

Hello All,

I am a former employee of Edward Humphrey LLC. I was employed from April 18th till May 13th When i Quit. On my very first payday, Ed was a no show. We (Myself and 3 other employees) sat in the office from 4:30 till 7:15 waiting for Ed because as he put it"I'll be in the office in 15 Minutes". 15 Minutes turned into 3 hours.

Didnt get paid till Monday.

I went to start a Bathroom remodel on April 28th. The first 2 days were Demo work. On May 2 ,Ed asked me to give him a list that afternoon of Materials i would need for that job. I furnished him AND his office manager with a copy of the List. Ed told me that i would be able to go to Lowes the following morning and the Materials would be waiting for me. That didnt happen. I waited Tues,Wed,Tursday andFinally Friday Morning, He Tell me to go with another employee to Home Depot to Pick up the materials. What was the purpose of the List then. I wasted almost 4 days(Of course in Ed's eye's, This is my fault i guess)

That Tuesday, The 3rd i asked Ed if he could call a plumber because a radiator needed to be moved in the bathroom.

He said "I'll take care of it" It only took 4 days for him to call a plumber(I PAID FOR THE PLUMBER OUT OF MY OWN POCKET BECAUSE I STOPPED BY THE OFFICE TO PICK UP MONEY AND THERE WAS"NT ANY TO PAY HIM WITH".I still to this day have not gotten that money. I didnt realize that a MAN who has handled over 2000 Contract(As he says), Cant pay a employee back for money he should have never needed to take out of his own pocket.

So 3 days for the Plumber,More time wasted due to the fact that i could'nt lay the subfloor down because the Radiator was in the middle of the bathroom.

Worked with the materials provided till the following week, when on the Thursday the 12th, I stopped by the office in the morning to pick up money for Materials and Ed said you can stop by Tomorrow and i will give you cash so you can pick them up.

Funny Thing is i stopped by in the office the following morning, And guess what,ED was'nt there. Lots of Employees but no ED.

That day was also Payday. May 13th

No ED on Friday, Sat, Sun, Mon, Tues,. No Ed during those days, But alot of PISSED OFF customers(I have Names and Phone Numbers If anyone wants to Check with them since ED will most likely say that i am Lying and that he is the Victim)

Finally on Wed,May 18th Ed resurfaced. He told me "stop by the office and i'll give you your paycheck" I was there Wed, All day Thursday and all day Friday, But ed never showed up. He kept calling and saying "I'll be there in 15 Minutes"or "I'm on My Way"

Just a little side note here, When i told Ed that i was'nt working for him anymore, he accused me of Abandoning the job. I said you have not paid me for the last 2 weeks of work, how am i abandoning the job. I guess Ed expects to have employees work and pay them when he wants to. He also wanted me to collect a check From the home owner in order for me to collect a paycheck from him. If i am an employee, i get paid from payroll. Not from me Shaking down a homeowner for money.

Never showed up. I didnt get my May13th paycheck till May 31st and it was posted date till June 3rd. Almost a month. Of course i kept the file on the remodel i was working on because it has 990.00 in reciepts in things i had paid for and if i gave it back to him, I would never see that money.

After Getting my paycheck, I called Ed and asked about the

other 990.00 that he still owed me. He told me " Call so & so and he will meet up with you and give you your check. I called

who i was told to call and he tell's me that someone else has the check. So the following morning i went to the Police Department and filed a complaint. They explained what actions would be taken. This was 2 weeks ago.

As of June 21th, I still have not gotten any Money from Ed. I have called Ed 6 times in the last week but for some reason he does'nt return my calls. I was informed though that he tried to contact the homeowner were i was doing the remodel, but they want nothing to do with Ed.

I know Ed will reply and say this is all lies, and that he is the victim, But there is a police report along with copies of all my paperwork to back up my story.
