When I refinanced my mortgage my credit score was lower than needed to get the best rate. So, I paid extra ($1,800+) for what is called a "1 year pre-payment addendum to note". This note, after paying for 1 year, would keep me from being penalized when I decided my credit score improved and I decided to refinance again. After my year was up I contacted EMC and asked them the exact date I would be able to refinance without penalty. I was told I did not have a "1 year prepayment addendum to note" and that I had a "2 year prepayment addendum to note." After months of arguing with them (and my 2 years having then passed) I decided to contact the company that EMC had purchased my mortgage from, and they indeed confirmed that I did have a "1 year prepayment addendum". I contacted EMC, faxed them proof, advised them to contact the company they purchased my mortgage from, and still to no avail, they refuse to refund the $1,800 I paid for my addendum to note that I did not get the benefit of using because of these liars. I am told that my "concern" is still in research, has been now for 3 months. I'll bet you can guess what would happen to me if I owed them $1,800.00 for 3 months. Yep, that's right, I'd be homeless. I may never get my money, but someday, some sucker, will answer for everyone this rude, obnoxious company has ever RIPPED OFF!

I have shown proof of my claim, I have faxed a copy of my document to EMC and needless to say, they have put me off by "researching" for many months now. I also have contacted our state's Atty General for their assistance. EMC has responded by putting the blame on the company they purchased my mortgage from. Not my problem if that company sold them my mortage as a 2yr prepayment penalty, I paid extra for a 1 yr prepayment penalty, have signed document, copy provided to EMC (which they should already have when they purchased my mortgage) I paid for a service that was not provided. I just want the money I paid return to me. I think it would be "ridiculous and irresponsible" to let them get by with this kind of action. I have never and would never falsely accuse anyone. By the way, you mention "attitude". Your company could give classes on how to administer a bad one.

This is a ridiculous and irresponsible claim. If you're original loan docs specify a specific action such as this then there would be no fighting anything. Call EMC's Mortgage Information Line/Customer Service line and be prepared to show proof of your claim. Going to a website such as this does you no good. EMC is a reputable corporation that goes to great lengths to do right by its customers. Remember, half the battle is your attitude when you call in accusing EMC of something.
