The reason you have shedding in the carpet that empire sold you is the carpet is polyester sold on clearance from mohawk for about $2.25 a sq yard you should have bought from a private carpet store and either bought continous filament nylon or smartstrand they don't shed and they wear very will but you should expect to pay $4.50 to $5.50 a sq foot with pad and installation, nobody installs free or gives free rooms or installs whole houses for $39.00 you'll get in carpet exactly what you pay for.

Filed with BBB and Empire responded with the following; We have contacted the customer at the time of the complaint. We have had an independant inspector to evaluate the issue with the carpet that the Fultz's are stating is causing the problem in their home. After looking over the results of the inspection, it is determined that the carpet is wearing normally and no manufacture defects were found to be present at their home. We have offered to the customer that they can have their carpet inspected as well and if the results were to be caused by a manufacture flaw or installation flaw we will proceed as advised to take care of their concerns immediately. Here is the conclusion from the inspector that was present at the time of inspection... Conclusion: In my opinion, as for fuzzing, it is a characteristic of this type of material, which is a staple yarn. With a low maintenance vacuuming schedule, I feel the material is performing within manufacturer specification. As for matting, I would expect the material to perform in the manner is is due to consumer's maintenance schedule. There are no manufacturer defects present. I responded to the BBB with: This is the same BS I received from so-called inspector. Has anyone there at the BBB bought carpet that plugs up their sweeper 2 yrs. later each time they vacuum. Folks, run like h-ll away from this outfit.

This is the exact same thing Empire did to us - we're on our 4th vacuum cleaner. They sent out their "inspectors" who told us there was nothing wrong with our carpet, that there was just "too much pet hair" on the carpet. I told them there is pet hair on the carpet because I can't vacuum without having to load the vacuum into the car and take it to the repair shop. They don't care. I filed a report with the Better Business Bureau. I don't know if it will help but that's where I'm starting - we'll see. If you want to file a report, you can go to the Better Business Bureau online and there's a form there - it's pretty easy. Yvette in Atlanta
