Back In December 2009, Evony began pushing the sale of their Christmas Package by stating a FREE Chest would be given to the purchaser's friends:
Special Christmas Chest
These Chests are presented to you as FREE gifts when your friends purchase the normal Christmas Package. You will receive a random assortment of Chests by open it with a Special Christmas Chest Key.

Includes: Chest A (Freedom Medal, Justice Medal, Nation Medal, Michelangelo's Script, Plowshares, Arch Saw, Wuarrying Tools, Blower, War Engign, Excalibur, The Wealth of Nations, Amulet) or Chest B (Primary Guidelines, Internmediate Guidelines, Hero Hunting, Merchant Fleet, Plowshares, Double Saw, Quarrying Tools, Blower, Michangelo's Scrip, Tax Policy, The Wealth of Nations) or Chest C (Excalibur, War Horn, Corselect, Truce Agreement, War Engisn, Adv City Teleporter, Michelangelo's Script).
Now, the DECEPTIVE part of this campaign was when the person receiving the FREE Christmas Chest went to open it, they were then notified they needed a "special" key to open the Chest -- and that key would cost the purchase of a $30 package! NOTHING FREE was given. In fact, I have almost 30 of these "FREE" Chrismas Chests that cannot be claimed because I have NOT purchased $30 to receive the key to open the FREE Chest.
Evony then started promoting a NEW YEAR'S PACKAGE with the same concept. However, due to MULTIPLE complaints they added the following:
TERMS AND CONDITIONS: This offer is valid only to new purchases, new AutoCents subscribers or AutoCents renewals of a single transaction of $30 or more during this period. Offer is valid now and ends on March 23rd. You can only get one Dream Truce item and send one to one friend for every single $30. To open Special New Year Chest, you must have a Special New Year Chest key. Special New Year Chest keys are obtained through a single transaction of $30 or more in New Year package during this period.
NO COMPENSATIVE was given to anyone who received the FREE Christmas Chests.
