Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
After being laid off when the company I was working for went out of business, I applied for temporary work with Express. It was months before they had any work, but when they finally offered me a job, I took it, worked my hardest, and called back to ask for more work when it was done. They didn't have any more work, so I continued to collect unemployment while I applied for other jobs.

Then, out of the blue, I got a letter in the mail saying I was disqualified for unemployment because Express is claiming I never called them back. I went down to the local office, and they told me everything was fine and they saw in their records that I called to ask for more work. Then they turned around and told the labor department something completely different, all to keep their unemployment insurance rates from possibly going up because of my claim.

It took months of waiting for a hearing, submitting phone records and other evidence to prove to the labor department what Express knew all along: I did everything they asked me to, and the reason they didn't give me another job is because they didn't have one. During that whole time, I wasn't getting my unemployment payments because Express had put them in dispute. I heard from others later that companies like Express dispute unemployment claims all the time, even when there's no reason to, because sometimes the employee won't want to bother with the appeal and the company will win by default. This is done through their corporate office in Oklahoma, so it's not just my local branch.

I hope that by posting my story I can save someone else from all this hassle and heartache. Just don't register with these people in the first place; it's not worth it. Even when I had a job through Express, I was getting paid less than I was on unemployment, and I nearly lost my income and had to repay thousands of dollars of unemployment benefits because of their lies. Don't put yourself through that.
