This is how all of the confusion began:

I was referring my sister-in-law to the Fairfield Grand Timeshare. (Even though my husband and I had left a written contract cancellation letter on the 11th of Augusta, we thought it was a great resort.) Since my sister-in-law goes to Colorado frequently we thought that she would like the Nevada based resort. She is an attorney and when I explained how I left the letter, she commented that I should make sure that I wouldn't get railroaded by the Fairfield Grand.

Guess what? They are trying to railroad my husband and I into keeping a timeshare. first they claimed not to have received my letter yet they billed my checking account as my letter had stated. NexT whenever I call any of the numbers given by one of their organization, they simply give me the run-around. On last week one of their contract specialists in the Fairfield Finance Office stated that my letter had to be signed by an employee and that I had to be given an officail letter.

I am mailing you a copy of the contract and a copy of my orignal letter. Please note that the contract states that a written letter could be delivered in person and no statements regarding any signature or officail letter is noted. Secondly they claimed that they could not verify my copied letter so they denied my request on October 1st for a contract cancellation. My request was made on August 11th when I left the letter at the checkout desk with the desk clerk. No it appears that my letter has been conveniently lost or never delivered. The clerk actually suggested that maybe I never left a letter.

#2UPDATE EX-employee responds

I worked for Fairfield Resort headquarters, located in Orlando back in 2003 - 2004. I quit for this very same reason you have stated - my job function was Owners Services rep, I would help dissatisfied members and owners with their request for cancellation on previous contracts or new contracts, basically identified as buyers remorse believe me, we would received many letters of cancellation most of the issues where ALWAYS with the Nevada office - I would spend days even weeks trying to settle a members cancellation here's how it works, members sends in a letter to the home office concerning a bill they received and advise they cancelled the contract the rep then hunts down the original contracts and any other documents the owner or member had signed the rep then contacts the resort where the sale originally took place it's advise by the resort the contract is valid, no cancellation on file the owner re-sends the original to the home office and the rep then tries to figure out who is at fault and what amount should be refunded ,if any etc. now here's the REAL problem, once the time has lapsed for any cancellation request, it then becomes next to impossible to fight (Fairfield is counting on this) I on the other hand did my very best to honor any cancellation that I felt was valid and in order only to be reprimanded for my efforts. The system in which Fairfield handles contracts is not an accurate one. Your advised to submit documents and letters as to why you wish to cancel and then they never receive it Meanwhile, within the 3 days of signing, your account has been set-up for billing purposes and your check at the time of the initial signing has already been cashed. I believe you when you saying you're never able to obtain your RED week Most owners complain about the very same reason they're told at the very beginning that your always going to be able to have your desired week NOT! FYI Fairfield Resorts has their own loan company, collections and re-sell agents as well.
