On 8/7/18 and 8/8/2018, after securing a contract with Fashion Furniture and dealing with Agent: Jermuel via phone, for a furniture rental for a new apartment, Mr. Floyd stated on multiple occasions that if I were to pay a security deposit on my furniture of $250, I was guaranteed that no credit would be run to secure the rental. Jermuel verified this with his credit department and manager at Fashion Furniture San Diego, as well as his management team prior to me signing the rental contract, which was relayed to me several times. In fact, upon filling out the rental contract, Jermuel instructed me to not put my social security number in the contract, as "they would absolutely not be running my credit", and I was instructed to put "123456789" or all 0's in that field. I did so, and thought I was in good hands, with a delivery date of two days later. I could not have been more incorrect in this assumption.

Contrary to what Fashion Furniture and its associates (Jermuel) stated several times on recorded lines and via email, I was alerted today 8/9/18 to a credit pull on my Experian file from Fashion Furniture, in lieu of their promise not to do so several times. I phoned in immediately, and Jermuel admitted their "huge goof" on the call, placed me on hold to supposedly negotiate a discount, and was then met with a very abrupt, unprofessional female manager who did a 180 on Jermuel's words, and informed me that they did in fact commit a major error, but it was not a violation of any laws (it in fact is, as the company and its agents promised to me on a phone call and email communication that credit would not be run in lieu of said deposit, then did so anyway and admitted their blunder after the fact) -- she further stated that due to "credit issues" they now wanted a 6 month deposit from me in addition to my $250 already paid!

Fashion Furniture has engaged in unethical and unlawful tactics to secure a business deal -- in this case, a contract from me to rent their furniture. The company made a promise to me, the consumer, to not run my credit in lieu of providing a $250 security deposit (as I did not want any additional inquiries, which is why I paid said deposit), and did so anyway -- even without my social security number or any identifying information, and completely without my consent. The manager of said location stated that she "spoke to the company president" whom backed their decision to charge me this exorbitant fee of deposit, and refused to assist me in any other way. Absolutely sickening the way I was treated, and I will pursue this until I am met with just resolution; I will update this upon my scheduled phone conversation with the company President, Diane Nason.

Complaints have also been filed with the California Attorney General, FTC, and Bureau of Consumer Protection against them for this unethical act.
