Premier company operated unethically/ illegally? with me.

I received the card, used it a minimum number of times over a month for approximately $200.
My first bill was due on Sunday.

On Friday, two days before my bill was due, I called Premier company to pay my balance.
No option to talk to a live person, could only get a recording that said my payment would not be processed until Monday...the day after it was due. At 49% interest, $100 dollars in late fees.

Three days to process a payment? Even when they are open over the weekend? They have some interesting tricks to get their hands on that 49% interest.

While I was debating this event for a week or so, they reported it to Experian the next month. When I finally managed to get a live person on the phone at Premier, she refused the withdraw the report to Experian even after I told her the situation.

I again made an attempt to pay in full by the next due date, and again was only given the option of a recording saying that my payment would not be processed until AFTER the due date.

In addition, my credit report stated falsely that my account had been closed at MY request even though I had never been able to get a live person at their end. All within the space of a 2 months from beginning to end.

It's time to dream up some new excuses

"Do you work for Premier?"

Yes, yes I do. If you were to read some of my other comments on this site you would discover that I work for several retail stores, auto dealers, banks and finance companies.

"Never anything said to me about being picky about when they would take money, or delays or charging extra for various types of payment."

It's clearly posted on their (ok, our) web site.

"I figured I would do one better and call TWO days before my due date... I realized something was shady... which is why I didn't mail a check."

It would have been late if you mailed a check two days before the due date so that excuse doesn't fly.

"another person running a stop sign and causing the medical bills that dragged my credit down"

Did you have PIP insurance?

You didn't respond to my post, "The Credit Card Act of 2009 states that if the due date falls on a weekend or a holiday, payments must be credited to the account on the next business day without a late penalty."

Do you work for Premier? You have the same abusive attitude that everyone describes their agents as having.

Can't think why anyone else would go on a judgemental, uninformed attack against ME when I am not the party with the unethical practices. Are you going to launch a personal attack on the other hundreds of similar complaints on here as if we are fabricating it all against poor little Premier Bank? HMMM, FPB is the only one telling the truth versus hundreds of the rest of us? Where there's smoke, there's fire.

Since some people are too ignorant to realize that they don't know everything before they open their mouths:

Here are the reasons why I decided to investigate rather than just throw money at FPB after their tricks:

"Why didn't you mail them a check several days before the due date? When I first received my card, I called customer service with questions about payment procedures and other details. I was told that they posted 24/7 like every other credit card company (I checked with the others). The agent looked up my account and due date and actually TOLD me to pay on the day before due.  She was the only one who could see my info, I hadn't even received my first bill yet. Never anything said to me about being picky about when they would take money, or delays or charging extra for various types of payment. Since I called specifically to ask for this kind of info, why wouldn't she have mentioned it? Why would I suspect the woman of being deceptive at that point? She is also the one who told me that interest would be 49.9% on any balances carried over to the next month.

I figured I would do one better and call TWO days before my due date. The recording gave no option except payment being considered late. At that point I realized something was shady and started investigating whether to dispute, which is why I didn't mail a check. Duh. If CALLING was already late, what good is mailing going to do?

"Why did you allow your credit to become so poor that you would have to do business with a subprime credit card company?"   I wasn't quite aware that subprime meant deceptive. Never having been a dishonest type of person myself, why would it occur to me?

My credit is currently in the hands of my attorney, due to another person running a stop sign and causing the medical bills that dragged my credit down.  As you can see, I am prepared to sue when someone illegally affects me in a negative way.

Take your preaching and shove it.

The Credit Card Act of 2009 states that if the due date falls on a weekend or a holiday, payments must be credited to the account on the next business day without a late penalty.

While you were "debating this event for a week or so" why didn't you mail them a check? Why didn't you mail them a check several days before the due date? Why did you allow your credit to become so poor that you would have to do business with a subprime credit card company?

Your not telling the entire story

First of all First Premier is a Sub-Prime card which means that you have had severe credit issues in the past.  Based on your comments it appears that either there is a different First Premier(less likely), or you haven't learned how to handle credit and are not posting the entire story(more likely).

If you have a $200 balance you are not going to get $100 in late fees.  First of all their interest rate is 36% not 49%.  But even at 49% Interest you would only be looking at about $8 of Interest for that month.  Their late fee is up to $35.  So even if we figure that it is $35 you are up to about $43 in additional fees for being late.  That is a far cry from $100.

Three days to process a payment? Even when they are open over the weekend?
They may be "open" but no bank posts any transactions on Weekends or Holidays.  I do wonder if you were getting confused as to when they would "post" the payment to your account and when the funds would be withdrawn from your account.  Another possibility is(especially for the second month) is that you were trying to make your payment AFTER the cut-off time.  From what I gather on their site it would be 3PM Central Time.  Perhaps you should  have tried to make your payment a day sooner.

You CAN NOT be reported late on your credit reports until you are at least 30 days late.  If you were only 1 Day late..heck even if you were 29 days late you can not be reported.  All you have to do is get proof of your due date(statement) and when your payment was made, dispute it with the Credit Reporting Agencies and they will fix it.  If they don't you have a very good case against them for violating the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
