I have to agree with the gentleman, that wrote the prior report. Fitzone is a definite ripoff. I was taken in by the cancellation scam also. You are told you have a yearly contract. At the end of the contract, it does not terminate. It is a never-ending contract. You think your membership has ended and don't go to the club. Then they bill you, you dispute, then your told you have to pay them an additinal 60 days.

To add insult to injury, I called them on the phone, the kid told me everything was taken care of, I look at my bank statement and they withdrew the funds again. It takes two months to cancel a membership, who are they kidding. With Fitzone, it takes two months for them to tell you the real deal, that way they can milk more money out of you. Then they threaten you, harass you, and blackmail you with threatening to ruin your credit rating. If you look at their website it says, "always affordable yearly membership" Don't believe it.

Let me also reply to rebutal given by Fitzone on the last report by Tony. These terms are not and I repeat not discussed when you sign the contract. The contract it two legal size pages long. They would like you to think people have misunderstandings. These misunderstandings are calculated and deliberate to defraud you. Tony's not the only one, nor am I. The girl at the club, even laughed in my face when I got irrate. I don't see any crowd's at fitzone these days, word must be getting around. As far as I'm concerned they are scum. I have reported them to the Attorney Generals Office but I doubt anything will come of it. Like they say, It's all in the contract. Just for the hell of it I went to the second Fitzone location, and this club was not different. The terms of the contract were not explained and they were eager to get you to sign on the bottom line. Sucker.....

Regarding the comment from the fellow in Bridgewater. My report is the second of its kind on this site. Guess we must be crazy. I'm happy that your experiences were better than mine at Fitzone. I have taped conversations with Fitzone employess, that would back up everything I have said. Also there has been an investigation of sorts by the Attorney Generals office, so over these months it is quite possible they've got their act together. I have since joined another club that offers much more than Fitzone and when I quit I give them 14 days notice. No registered mail. No bull. Glad you love the Fitzone so much you didnt'have to fork over an additional 200.00 for services you never received. But I got burned and I've learned my lesson. And I'd just like to add, that just because other business's follow certain practices does not make it ethical. Health Clubs are notorious for ripping people off.

not the case now, true that they will automatically renew your membership if you dont tell them

I recently became a member at fitzone. When I walked in someone asked me if they could help me. They then took me to the desk and informed me of everything the gym offered. We then went over the contract, terms ,and conditions. I was informed of the renewal process and was told that if I plan on cancelling my membership I should inform them 60 days in advance. So if you have had problems in the past it no longer seems to be happening (at least at Fitzone in Bridgewater). It is true that they will automatically renew your membership if you dont tell them you want to cancel but they told me up front. This is common policy in many business memberships I.E. Sports Illustrated, T-Mobile,etc. Furthermore, whenever you need to sign a two page contract to join something, it is a real good idea to read the contract that you sign. It seems to me that it is the consumer's responsibility to be informed of the policies. I would not classify this as a scam, they didn't sign the contract for you. I love the atmosphere at Fitzone and I will continue to go.
