Is your relationship with Florida Peninsula like that with Brighthouse? An agreement to not sue them in exchange for free advertising?

After filing a complaint via electronically at WWW.MYFloridaCFO.COM, dont wait .....I am  a 40 yr claim advocate having worked on both sides of the insurance industry at the home office level in multiple States. Due to the state of the economy every carrier is penny pinching claims.  like the admitted and well published Citizens corrupt claims practices to drive insureds away by low balling the values by 60% or distorting your coverage. They are practicing the industry protocol known as Delay-Deny-Defend. During good times of decades ago, most claims were paid liberally just to keep happy policyholders and move files, those days are now gone. Most small claims, under $50,000 cannot be litigated with any degree of success for the cost involved. You bet... the insurance carriers know that.

The time is NOW to hire your own advocate before doing irreversible collateral damages. The adjuster and their pet contractor has a conflict of interest and works for your insurer and to their benefit. The roof engineer is loyal to your carrier, not you. They skew the facts against you and use your own words against you to deny or limit coverage. What you have said will an can be used against your claim. Coverage is very sensitive and specific to the cause of loss. A flawed cause of loss will result in a coverage denial

Hiring your own claim advocate/ public adjuster, meaning someone who has literally worked inside the home office of many insurance carriers can help reverse coverage and maximize the repair costs which can be presumed low ball if they were sent out by your insurer. Dont use contractors to fight your battle, there is more to your claim than writing an estimate. Its all about coverage interpretation, claim protocol flaws involving 1) underwriting of your risk,2) loss control and 3)rating of the policy before you get into the claim adjustment. The first phase is to trigger the proper coverage and interpretation of the loss. The second phase is all about damages and appraisals.  Contractors or those who pretend to be public adjusters with a contractor background have limited to little experience inside the carriers claim protocols and the 3 key elements to any successful claim.

A claim advocate can almost always get the proper coverage aligned with a proper repair costs for a successful settlement. They will always get you 30-60% more than you can get on your own and at a cost of 10-15%, or its free.  Do the math.   Dont take "No" for a final answer. Hire your own claim advocate on your side and recover what is owed you under the policy.

another denied claim at Peninsular

Peninsular also denied my claim for roof damages.  They send out an engineer to inspect my roof,
they denied my claim for various reason they even attributed it to poor housekeeping and I am a germ phobia.  I still have my problem.  it has not been resolved and I have been with this company for four years.  I had Citizens before and when I got a letter asking if I wanted to switch I called my insurance agent and she praised this company  talking about how  great they were.  I have yet to see their greatness.  They just took my monies for 4 years and not there when I needed them

I am filing a complaint.  They take forever to call you you have to call them and leave messages with the adjusters and they do not call you back.  I am so disguised with this company.

I have a person in my neighbor who also has a roof leak and he has Citizens and they are taking care of his problems.  If you are asked to switch to Florida  Peninsular please run the other way.  My greatest mistake was that I listened to my agent instead of doing research on the company.

Of course the banks who is the owner of each of our mortgages states that is is mandatory that we carry homeowner's insuarence. It has been one year this month, Ocyober, 2012 that Florida had a constant wind blowing rain for days. I had noticed my window had some wetness on it so I inspected it further as wll as all windows/doors. That is when I realized that I had a problem. I contacted Fl.Penn. immediately and started a report. They sent an adjuster out who stated all that he found and in the end actually told me what to expect once his report was completed.

Several weeks passed and I heard nothing. I had to call over 50 times to get someone to speak to me. After 7/8 months and all the phone callsI aw informed that my deductible was a certain amount and that it equalled out that they owed me othing. Their adjustors had already stated an amount of $15,000.00-$17,000.00 of damage. I had to hire an outside company to fight Fl.. Penn. This month has been one year and last week I received yet another letter stating they will nt pay my anything! Where is the onsumer's justice? Yet, I have to pay this company every month for absolutely NOTHING!!! how can the insurance companies get away with this? I am 62 years old and on a fixed income which barely get me through the third week of each month.

I am a retired 40 year insurance claim advocate working with hundreds of insurers  on behalf of and "for the people". Most carriers operate out of greed, inexperience and ignorance.  This insurer has a good track record and has shown to be liberal at claim protocols, paying questionable claims rather than fight every issue like the big name carriers..you know who they are.... As a past home office claim exec for many national carriers before turning to help the policyholders as a policyholder advocate, I understand the reason for paying the dwelling claim and a denial of the contents. The biggest confrontation today is communication which none of the new breed of adjusters and managers get it. They may pay the right amount but without proper communication face to face they have failed to provide the implied and expressed service promised under the policy.

Best advice is : contact the Dept of Financial Services/ Consumer Help in Florida who regulates the carriers and have strict claim codes. You only need to go to www.myflacfo.com and toggle to Consumer Assistance. You can file for assistance on line and explain you "don't get it" and they will advocate for you and get the answers. They are very good at responding to you and will get you a plausible answer for your questions not clearly explained by the adjuster. Any denial of coverage is to be explicitly defined by State Statue and clearly explained using the policy language and showing you exactly where to find the denial section of the policy they are relying upon.  Remember, an all risk policy (HO3 form) does not mean all losses are covered.

Florida Peninsula works hard to resolve claims as quickly as possible.  While we cannot comment on the specifics of this claim, we review every claim within 72 hours of submission and provide the maximum value to resolve the claim in the insured's favor while protecting the interests of our other policyholders.  If a claimant does not feel the settlement is enough to satisfy the amount of the loss, Florida Peninsula will send a reinspector to the property to review the claim and provide a second opinion.  At Florida Peninsula, our policyholders always come first.
