I have a Frigidaire fridge which I bought less than a year ago. I woke up one morning to realize the inner top part of the fridge has melted due to overheating from the inner bulb.
This could have been a potential source of fire to the whole house.

Frigidaire does not seem to recognize the gravity of this issue and thinks I should use a tape to cover the burnt areas in the fridge. They have no explanation for the what caused the overheating, leading to the possible fire.

Beware of threat of fire if you are considering a Frigidaire fridge.

Josh is right, stupidity is most likely the cause here

It goes way beyond leaving the door open.

It is obvious that the wrong type of bulb  and/or wrong wattage was used as well.

The only possibility I can see here that would let this person off the hook for stupidity would be if the door switch was bad and the light stayed on after the door was closed.

Are you stupid?

It's pretty obvious to me what caused the overheating -- the lightbulb!  They get pretty hot.  You probably didn't shut the door all the way, and the light stayed on.  This can happen with any refrigerator, regardless of make and model.  There was no risk of fire, just damage to the plastic.
