Friend of the Court RIP-OFF THICK SKULLS UNRESPONSIVE Detroit Michigan
I have been trying to clear up my case matter since 1995. My wife & I divorced in Michigan and she started collecting child support. We got back together and moved to California. She never informed Friend of the Court. In California, we split up, she began collecting child support there. I paid it until daughter got married. California case was closed in 1996 after ex-wife signed Consent Order stating no further child support was owed to her. In 1995, Michigan issued a wage assignment for back child support amounting to over $28,000. I was able to get records from California (Michigan wouldn't talk to them) and submitted them; they gave me partial credit for payments made in California, but say I still owe in excess of $12,000.
My ex-wife signed another Consent Order stating no child support was owed to her; we sent it to Friend of the Court in 1996, but have gotten no response. As far as we remember, ex-wife never received money which was collected (appx. $2,000) in 1995-96 from wage garnishment. I changed jobs and wage assignment was stopped. We never got an acknowledgment that they had received and filed the Order. Numerous phone calls have been made to no avail; letters have been written, but no responses.
Now, December, 2002, they have started the wage assignment again, amounting to $227/week out of my paycheck. I DON'T OWE ANY CHILD SUPPORT IN MICHIGAN!!! NEED HELP TO GET THIS MATTER FINALIZED! Will hiring a lawyer in Michigan help? I live in Tennessee.
Looks like their time would be better spent on current cases where there are ex-wives and minor children who need the support now rather than to keeping fooling with a 20+ year old case. My daughter is 26 years old and has two kids of her own. She won't benefit from this and my ex-wife does not want anything else.
I also cannot get a passport until this mess is cleared up.
