In August of 2011 I went down to Ft. Lowell to sign my lease agreement and I sat down with of their representatives, when we got to section 52 no smoking in the homes I asked her why if there was no smoking
Marty who had showed me the home smoked in his apartment? She indicated that there was absolutely NO smoking in any of the homes and she would speak with Marty. She also indicated that there was a designated smoking area where tenants could smoke. I explained to her that cigarette smoke made my allergies worse and she again assured me that there was no smoking in the homes. It was warm in August when I moved into the apartment and people were inside with swamp coolers going, but after a week I noticed a considerable amount of cigarette smoke coming into my apartment. I sent an email to Ft Lowell
complaining about the smoke, and Crissy indicated she would contact that person who was smoking and again she indicated via email no smoking in the homes.
I took them to court and won my case but only received a very small amount of money (The Judge was not interested and acted as if she was wasting her time). Moving is very time consuming and expensive process, especially for a women in her late 60s. I would have to stay and save up enough money to move.
The two guys next door harassed me by intentionally blowing smoke into my patio, I put up a barrier to keep some of the smoke out of my patio.
Smoke continued to come into my home, but I was unaware that we had connecting vents and that the cigarettes smoke from his living room was entering my apartment through the vents. I was becoming very ill and again I sent complaints via email (I have them all). I taped up all the vents including the swamp cooler vents and found that the smoke was coming from their living area into my storage area. There are two smokers and they are heavy smokers (their blinds are yellow from the cigarette
smoke and they never leave). I asked one of the workers that Ft. Lowell employs to come into my back yard to smell the smoke and he could, they also sent someone into the apartment next door and found cigarette butts in ash trays overflowing. The cigarette smoke continues though I have called and sent Ft. Lowell email after email.
They have not fixed the problem. I have proof of everything that I have indicated in this note. The yards are dirty, the only clean them up when they have a vacancy.
Slum lord seems too kind. I am currently moving, but worry for my health in the future from being exposed to second hand smoke. Come to my apartment you are welcome to see what is happening.
