Fura completely screwed up on a tattooed I paid for! Making it a huge black blob and acting like it looked good. It was a real life tattoo nightmare. Covering my entire top of foot with a distorted unrecognizable mass. I requested my $500 within days to help pay for my laser treatments to remove immediately. I was promised in writing twice by tattooer Marie a full refund.....then ignored for 1.5 months. Only to hear from Fura owner he refused refund now, that " the tattoo was of top quality, and I was trying to take advantage of his artist by asking for my money back". Mel never even met with me or saw my tattoo in person. I was in shock & my foot & ankle were destroyed by this business. I have had 2 laser removal visits, and acid removal. I will need at least 5 more laser removal visits . I live 3 hrs away from San Francisco. I'm a single mom, this is such s painful, embarrassing, demoralizing, very expensive fix! I have scar tissue forming already to remove this odd pigment the first dermatologist had trouble with! This will be a $5000 fix now that its gotten more complicated. I will never be the same! Fura is a horrible place. See my pictures of before and after, plus my starting of removal process on Yelp.com. Both the owner Mel and this artist Marie have several complaints on there! I cannot express the amount of shame these people should feel for the way they dealt with this tragic event that I must live with now. Also Mel has created numerous lies to blameshift this entire situation. Bottom line is, his artist put Huge black ugly tattoo on my entire foot & ankle because she lost control. It was unfixable & wasn't even close to the design I approved. Then kept my money to avoid admitting responsibility for fear of legal backlash! Completely criminal, not to mention totally immoral and unethical!

fura, complete lies

Everything in this company's rebuttal is a complete lie. Why would I ask for the entire top of my foot too be blacker, & bigger. I'm a permanent makeup artist, not a body tattooer. HUGE DIFFERENCE! I just laid back and let this tattooer Marie at Fura do the agreed stencil. That's NOT what I got! Marie messed up, totally disregarded the stencil & tried to correct her mistakes by making everything bigger & blacker. So shameful! I've never said they gave me an infection. These people are out of their minds! So unbelievable, that their trying to blame shift this horrible artwork to my fault. Sick! I'm not validating their fabricated excuses any further. Stay away from this horrible business, it could change your life forever!

This customer has gone beyond being reasonable and has made false claims on a number of websites. Had generated false pictures claiming infection caused by work performed at Fura. None of it is true. She claimed she is ignorant of the tattoo process when in fact, she has been in the tattoo business for years. In writing she asked the tattooist to completely black out the head and cover the entire previous tattoo.  If she hadn't kept asking Marie to darken the head of her tattoo during the session, it wouldn't be so dark. She kept telling her to make it wider. Marie did everything this difficult customer asked her to do.

Below is a copy of the letter and explanation that was sent to Meredith. I told her I would post my letter  online and let the public decide for themselves who was and is being fair in this situation.

I apologize for the delay in responding...This is why I am having such a difficult time with your request.  Marie has worked for me for almost 5 years and has completed over 1200 tattoos in my shop and has never had a single complaint, much less have something that has turned out so far off base from what the client is "claiming" they requested. She is an exceptional tattooist and her attention to detail and customer satisfaction is impeccable.

Here is what I have been able to determine. You contracted with Marie to perform a cover-up on an existing tattoo that was initially performed by at least 2 other artists outside of Fura prior to visiting our shop. I also understand that you supplied Marie with the concept art and size for the current tattoo design in a consultation meeting you had with her. When Marie met with you a second time to review the drawing, you made some changes to the design and then approved the tattoo to be performed.

During your tattoo session I understand that Marie made an exact stencil of the approved drawing and transferred that stencil onto your foot so that you could see exact placement and size for your approval prior to starting the tattooing process. She then colored in the design with a purple felt tip pen to show you exactly what the tattoo would look like when it was completed. You again confirmed that's exactly what you wanted. To further support this, I have a copy of an email from you to Marie dated August 14, 2015 where you stated "The body & head of the shark will need to be completely blacked out BC its covering the old tattoo".

I am also not sure if you recall, but I was downstairs after your tattoo session was complete and you told me you "loved" your new tattoo. And in fact to support how much you "loved" your new tattoo, you gave us a $300.00 deposit to complete more work for you at a later date that same night.

In conclusion, I have made the decision that the tattoo you contracted Marie to perform was of exceptional quality and workmanship and was executed per your exact instructions and approval prior to, during, and immediately following the completion of the project. I feel that Marie completed your tattoo as contracted and feel that the work performed by her was of at least $500.00 in value and quality. Therefore your request for a 100% refund is unwarranted and has been denied.

I have approved and have enclosed a check in the amount of $300.00 redeeming the current deposit on file for future work for you, as well as removing you from any further appointments from our shop calendar.

Sincerely,
