I guess you didn't check the platt or survey before you bought the property. Did you get one with the purchase? This is common when buying raw land. The way land is divided and subdivided it is important to check a current survey before. As a matter of fact, many purchases require a new survey or to verify the old one. You need to "walk the land" before you buy to verify it yourself. The other guy kept his mouth shut while you guys did the work.
