Geekchoice contacted me for a position with their company.

The company made an offer of 75.00 per hour only later to redact their offer AFTER I completed

several jobs for them. The company is full of liars and con-artist trying to scam everyone. After I expressed the salary issue, they placed my phone number on a black list and blocked it

I also have not been paid for the jobs which I have completed and have contacted the proper  authorities to investigate these people. DO NOT WORK OR GET SERVICE FROM THESE PEOPLE.

I have filed a case with the U.S. Department of Labor, here is their information if anyone needs it:

U.S. Department of Labor

Wage and Hour Division

103 South Gay Street

Baltimore, Maryland 21201

(410) 962-2265

Complete SCAM !!

Geek Choice is a company in name only.  They are a clearing house for IT work and subcontract their work to local technicians.  After looking into them, they claim associations and awards they have not earned.  Checking with the BBB, it shows an alert for the ENTIRE company.  Below is the alert from BBB:

"This company has a history of violating the BBB name and logo policy and has referenced the BBB name in an unauthorized manner, despite the Better Business Bureau's efforts to alert the company. Misuse of the BBB trademark constitutes trademark infringement and is a violation of trademark rights of the Council of Better Business Bureau, Inc."

BBB rates them with an "F" rating!! And yet they persist claiming an association with the BBB.  And there is no other evidence of any of the Awards they claim to have been given or other associations they claim to have.

My inside source tells me Geek Choice only takes phone calls and hires subcontractors to do the actual work, etc. while they cash the checks and pay out a small portion to the contractor.  Thier "No-Help Desk" is only designed to schedule an appointment and get your money when it's finished.  If you have any questions, good luck getting any answers.  My source is still a sub-contractor for them but tells me that all that was necessary is to take a test online to become a Geek Choice Tech.  When they go to your home, there is no guarantee about the person being a criminal or anything else and they have no liability because the person who shows up is a private contractor.  This person is liable for damages, etc., not Geek Choice.

Based on everything I've learned from my friend and my own research, you are not any more at risk by posting a note on the local IT College bullitin board and are likely to get better service.
