I received a quote for full coverage, paid the amount qouted for a year. Got a phone call that I was only paying for liability and that I owed them $600.00 for back coverage even though it was their fault and I had no occurance. They set me up on a payment plan, I mailed payment, they cancel my ins. so, not only had I been driving around with only liability, now I had no idea that I had no ins. I called, they said, the amount I had sent was not enough, even though this was the amount I was told to send. Basically, you never get the same person twice and none of them have a d**n clue whats going on. The managers don't care that it was their employees mistakes on both counts, I was still charged late fees and cancelation fees.

I do know what I'm talking about

Debra If you believe that there is such a thing as full coverage then, please be kind enough to explain exactly word for word what it is. I know what I'm talking about when I say there is no such thing as full coverage. This is not a GEICO only thing, it's every company and any adjuster that knows what they are doing will tell you that. There are so many different coverages available with every insurance company, you have to be able to decide which coverages you need and which one's you don't. There is Collision, Comperhensive, rental, ers, property damage, bodily injury, uninsured motorist, underinsured motorist, mechanical breakdown, personal injury protection, additional personal injury protection, medical payments, and several others depending on what state you live in. All of these coverages have different limits that you can purchase, we even have umbrella policies. Most people say they have full coverage but what is that? You need to carry the coverage for your vehicle that will be sufficient enough to pay for any type of damage either bodily or vehicle, to cover any circumstance. When you hurt or kill someone in an accident the last thing you want to do is not have enough coverage to take care of that person. Once again Debra, I do know what I am talking about. Maybe you should revisit or call your insurance company and ask them to explain to you exactly what full coverage is. When they tell you place your rebuttal on this site and I will be more than anxious to review what they have told you.

Morgan with the sr-22 ..The first consumers comments are not legit.

Once you no longer need the sr-22 ask GEICO if your policy can be reviewed for a "move-up". Generally if you have a sr-22 on file you are not in the preferred company. It is possible that GEICO will be able to offer you a cheaper rate when the sr-22 is no longer required. The first consumers comments are not legit. I have worked for GEICO for 5 years. GEICO will not call you to tell you that you only have liability & owe them $600. Furthermore, if you were paying the premium your policy would not be cancelled. GEICO cannot legally cancel your policy without written notice (this is in your contract) unless you do not pay the premium. This varies from state to state but would be illegal to cancel your policy without your knowledge. GEICO would not be in business if this were common practice. All consumers should get educated in Insurance so that you understand what you are paying for. Policyholders can call GEICO 24 hours a day to have someone go over their coverages (in case you dont understand your contract). I do not take sales calls anymore, but I can tell you that 9 out of 10 customers say "give me the cheapest you got", big mistake!!! My husband and I have $250/500 BI, $100 PD, No-ded for comp & $100 ded for coll., we have rental & towing too, all this for less than $700 a year. We have never had a claim (other than glass 1 time). We feel this is money well spent. Peace of mind! GEICO employees are well trained. There may be a few bad apples here and there as there is anywhere you go. For the most part GEICO employees are very knowledgeable in insurance. They are constantly monitored so there is no room for lying, as you would loose your job for this. Almost every part of the conversation between the policyholder & the rep is electronically recorded. That way everyone you speak to will know what was discussed the day before when you called (i.e. payment arrangements & amounts due) In the end, everyone wants something for nothing. "Expecting something for nothing is the most popular form of hope." -Arnold H. Glasow

Full Coverage means ...

#4Consumer Comment

Sun, August 17, 2003

"The term full coverage generally means that the insurance policy has both liability coverage and coverage for damage to your vehicle. The term full coverage does not mean that everything is covered no matter what happens. You should carry as much liability coverage as you can afford because damage claims today are sometimes settled for millions. State minimums don't come close to covering the cost of a serious accident. You should carry bodily-injury coverage of at least $100,000 per person, and $300,000 per accident, and property-damage coverage of $50,000, or a minimum of $300,000 on a single-limit policy. Raising your limits isn't expensive: $300,000 in coverage costs 20% more than $100,000, on average. The more coverage you buy, the less you have to pay per $1,000 of coverage....." I personally have Geico service and have no complaints. I have a clean record and they offered me the best policy and premiums I could find. Their online service and payment service is a dream. I couldn't ask for a better insurance company and have absolutely no plans to switch from them. It is possible that Geico is worth it for individuals with certain driving records. That is why there are so many companies out there ... for example, maybe Geico is the best choice for good drivers, or people with SR22's - and everyone in the middle gets slammed. Then it's possible that Progessive is the opposit so it balances the companies out and gets the competition going. I don't know - it's just a thought.

GEICO bends over backwards for policy holders

I am stationed in South Korea and have tohave full-coverage insurance on my car. I have SR22 insurance so I have to have full coverage insurance for three consecutive years even though I have not driven my car for over a year and have another year to go before I do so. I have had GEICO for about two years now and have found them to be the cheapest in my situation. I also get 70% of my paid premium credited back to my account when I take my car out of storage. I do not know very many insurance companies that will do this. Granted, after my SR22 is taken off of my record it may be cheaper to deal with another insurance agency, I am very happy with GEICO and all of the one on one attention they give to their customers. If I email a request to them they are quick to respond and are very understanding. If you lie to them and they find out then it is your fault and you should be expected to pay. If the fault is on them they have always rectified the situation quickly and relatively painlessly.

Think about what you are saying

36 out of over 5 million policies (You do the math) Full coverage who can really determine full coverage. Full coverage is what you think of it. Is it BI, PD, Comp & Coll. Thats all your loan co. cares about, but think futher into the matter. What do you do for a living. Full coverage could be state min. coverage with comp & coll. So you only carry 25/50/10 ok sounds good, but what happens if you are at fault because your are a simple man working 15 hours a day and you decide not to see a red light and while going though you hit a 30 year old brain surgian in a 2003 Mercedes Benz. Do you have full coverage? Lets see our doctor makes over $100,000.00 a year and you have caused him to loose his arm. Well that is over 25 more years he has to work and now can't will your 25 BI Per person cover that law suit. (Ow but I thought I had full coverage) and how about his car. Would your 10 PD coverage cover the repairs to his $80,000.00 MB. Yeah I didn't think so either. So the next time you refer to having full coverage and say that we are dumb employees who no nothing rember thinking of these things to make sure you are FULLY COVERED is only a small part to our jobs. Yes we may make mistakes and will most of the time correct them, but if your are not in the business don't dog it.

The Geico employee was actually correct in stating that there is no such thing as "full coverage",

The Geico employee was actually correct in stating that there is no such thing as "full coverage", it is phrase in the general public that really no one knows where it came from, but, most agents will say it to anyone instead of explaining it every single call. Full coverage only means 2 things, comp. & collision and always with liability.. I am sorry for any inconvence you may or may not have had w/ Geico. But as it goes in insurance we are highly rated in customer service.. & yes, we only offer 6 mos policys, & depending on the region inwhich you reside the payment options can be different.. also depending on which state you live in most times we have to wait one to two days for your motor vehicle report, otherwise, we have to take YOUR word on your driving record.. but all in all us employees of Geico are only human and we can & do make mistakes from time to time, im sure you'll find (as in most cases w/ any company) if you keep a cool head & call & work w/ us we will go above and beyond the call of duty for you, but if your like some people that want to yell at everyone, alot of times your problem can be put on the "back burner". Give Geico a second chance to give you the service that you demand & deserve.

Have a hard time believing it

I purchased a Geico policy online, paid my down payment and a few days later I got a bill in the mail. The bill was $388 more than the online quote. I called a service rep and they investigated my inquiry and found that I had correctly filled out the online form. But, the rate I was given online was incorrect. So they promptly credited my account for $388 and told me since the mistake was on their end, I wouldn't have to pay additional premium for the first 6 months. I called to have a copy of my insurance faxed to the bank as proof of insurance for my loan and the form was there within 30 minutes. I have had nothing but exceptionally prompt, courteous and fair treatment from reps at Geico and I have a hard time beleiving I'm an exception.

Teri....You mentioned that there is no such thing as full coverage insurance?? or Do you mean there is no such thing as full coverage with Geico??If you think that, you don't know what you are talking about. When you finance a vehicle through a car lot or a loan company (Americredit),they require you to have full coverage insurance on the vehicle. If you do not have full coverage on said vehicle, they have full right to repossess it.At least that is what is required in the State of Kansas. When we were trying to find a good car insurance rate,Geico is one that we had called and yes they told us they had full coverage option. We didn't go through Geico because they happen to be the most expensive car insurance on the market. We found a rate through another insurer that is about $60.00 a month cheaper than Geico. We have three different types of insurance options in Kansas at the various insurance agencies...Low liability,High liability and Full coverage. If your state legislation doesn't have or require full coverage insurance, then we will be moving to your state soon... We hate having to shell out the extra money. Also here,You can have a Month to Month policy,a Six month policy or a Twelve month policy....When we asked Geico about that, all three options were available. That's my 0.02!!

First of all, what do you call full coverage?? Are you aware that there is no such thing as full coverage?? Seems likely that you don't. For one the person before me is correct, we only issue 6 month policy's and if YOU lie to sales when the policy is issued then your premium will go up once we find all of the negative things on your driving record. It seems likely that GEICO was doing there job, and very likely that you weren't and can't now be telling the truth.

as a geico policyholder in the state of ga, i know for a fact that geico only sells insurance policies for SIX MONTHS at a time. you CAN NOT pre-pay for a year's policy with this company. also, geico will and OFFERS to provide a printed policy binder or will e-mail your coverage IMMEDIATELY or at any time that is accessible to the p/h. the company is open 24-hours a day, 365 days a year. if there was a difference in your premium, perhaps it was due to your driving record, or what you failed to tell about your driving record. geico also takes its payments over the telephone by check or credit card. they also have allowed me to pay by western union quick collect or by money-gram. any service rep will tell you your exact coverage at any time. how did you not know you did not have full coverage. your story does not have the ring of truth to it. NOT AT ALL. I HAVE BEEN A P/H WITH GEICO FOR FOUR YEARS AND WOULD NEVER SWITCH. shame on you.
