Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

Gene Morang took in 1200 bucks worth of consignment items from me, sold the items within 3 weeks, and was doling out a couple of hundred bucks a month to me instead of paying me when the items were sold, as we had agreed. After about 3 months, I called him on it.

He STILL doesn't think what he did was wrong, but apparently the judge did, because I had to secure a judgment against him for the unpaid balance. Beware of this THIEF. I've now gotten a judgment and secured a lien against him, but anyone dealing with this miscreant should beware, because if honesty and integrity were leather, this guy couldn't get enough of his own together to saddle a gnat.

He had the unmitigated gall to tell me that I "made the situation bad" and he "doesn't respond well to threats and pressure". Judging from the fact that he stole about a grand from me, I'd have to say HE is the one who made the situation bad. Judging from the fact that he didn't pay me for several months, I'd have to hazard a guess that he doesn't respond very well even without threats and pressure.

If you deal with this guy at all, I'd suggest you get cash up front with God as a co-signor.

Gene is now going under the company name LA or Louisiana Remodelers. In general, when jack-leg contractors get such a bad reputation under one name that no one will hire them, they simply change names.

In further response to the individual previous regarding comments about "payments"...
You see, THERE is a major part of the problem. There were NO "payment terms" in the agreement made with me. The agreement was simply: You pay me when you sell my stuff. PERIOD. At the same time he stiffed me, he was thrown out of his previous place of business across the road from where he now is because he ALSO broke his agreement to pay his RENT. Apparently he is very good at making agreements, but not keeping them.

You might further reference the link to the WAFB story on Gene Morang and his business practices. He did a shoddy job on that woman's roof, then tried to play it off as there being some defect in the home itself. If you're redoing a roof, and you know what you're doing, you should VERY WELL KNOW if there is a problem with the roof's underlayment that will cause problems.

What your "rebuttal" sounds like is someone who was put up to posting a rebuttal and mentioning "payment terms" - one of Gene Morang's favorite phrases when he's inventing an agreement that he dreams up in his head after an original agreement is made.

If you have your hand shaken by Gene Morang, I would suggest counting your fingers before walking away... Just sayin'....

If you go to the link above, I believe you will find that ole Gene has a habit of leaving people in the lurch. He also has a problem: it's with HONESTY.

He makes agreements and does not honor them.

He has been sued, a judgment and lien rendered, and he STILL has not paid after having YEARS to do so at this point.

If you take someone's things and agree to sell them and pay for them when they get sold and do not do so, but rather you put the money into your OWN pocket, that spells thief in any language in the world.

A Different Experience with Gene Morang

Gene Morang is owner of the Prairieville Trading Post, and of Louisiana Remodeling, LLC.  I met him when I shopped in the Prairieville Trading Post.

Since I needed home repairs, I checked out his contractor reputation on the internet.  It was good.  He and his crew repaired and remodeled my 33-year-old home starting in November, 2010, after storm damage.

They did excellent work:  Leveling the foundation,  re-roofing, painting the exterior & hanging new shutters, replacing/upgrading all windows and exterior doors, subfloor repair, laying new flooring throughout house, bathroom renovation, kitchen re-do, replacing some light fixtures & ceiling fans, and installing a new septic system.

My thoughts on the preceding unfavorable review are that the experience occurred at a time when the general business/building situation in this area was very bleak, because of the economy meltdown.  I note that in that review, it is mentioned that Mr. Morang was trying to pay the sum in installments.

The only other comment I can make is that my experience with Gene Morang was good.  I found him to be honest.
