June 27th our stuff was to be picked up by Globus moving company. Elliot had informed the truck would call when they were an hour away...my delivery time was 8-10a.m. By 9:30 I had not recieved a call. I phoned Elliot he said they were on the way and they would be calling in about 15min.

I did get a call 15min. later and the truck and drivers were lost. I had to drag my 2 yr.old out to go looking for them. When we arrived at my 2bdrm apt. I was told I had way more stuff than what he thought. I told Elliot 600 cubic ft. and my qoute was $2,850. He had us down for 380 cubic ft. at $1,709.

He then told me it may not all fit on the truck. I was supposed to be the first pick up that day but found out the truck was already half way full! Once I saw it i knew we werent going to beable to take everything we wanted.

It took them 5 hrs. to load. I did all the packing myself except for some loose items i was told had to be put in a box(wardrobe boxes)Well our move ended up being over $6,000! I was crying we couldnt afford that through a lot of arguing with Adi we got it down to $4,300!

Elliott had promised that our belongings would reach Ohio by July 7th no worries. Well the 10th rolled around and a new rep. Elana told us it would be here by wens. no show and no call.

We called Elana many more times and were given 3 more delivery dates which to no surprise they failed to show and Elana never called us to let us know or returned any of our phone calls to let us know what was happening.

We continuously had to call. She told us the truck was on the East coast and get us on the way back, we were told it was in transit, the truck broke down, it was in Chicago, it was in columbus. She also stated we probably would want to be compensated for the delay...D**n right i did/do!

On July 24th we finally got our stuff then it came time to pay which i will mention i called Elana that Fri (22)before to make sure that we only owed $2,300. Because we paid $2,000 at p/u. She said no we owed $4,300! I told her that was in correct and if she looked at the paperwork there was a disc. there of @ $1,300. She said it looked like that had already been takin off and she would have to talk to Adi and call me back.

Once again i hadnt heard anything 1 and 1/2 hrs. later i called back and they were closed. So the truck came and we spent at least an hour communicating through the driver to Adi that we only owed $2,300 which was his disc. price. Not to mention during negotiation Adi hung up on my father-in-law and we had to call him back! It was Sun. and no banks are open usually and since the incompetent miss Elana never called me back i couldnt get the correct money from the bank.

i tried to write a check the driver said they didnt allow checks (they had already excepted 1 from me before)Adi refused to take the check even though it was his companies fault for the inconvience. they threatened to take my stuff back to CHicago and store it until i could pay (which meant more money)I knew we would never see our things again!

Luckily there was a bank open only for another 30min. I got the money and we got our things. Only now we are working on compansation/claim and again no one is doing there job! Our paperwork shows 388cu. ft. at $4.75 per cubic ft. that only comes out to$1,843! We paid over double that!

I know we probably wont get anything back but i have someone elses things and that person im sure has mine and i would love to give his back and recieve my own.

What was supposed to be a great experience for my family has turned out to be the worst! We used up most of our money on this move i feel so violated and taken advantage of its sickening. All I want is for it to be over and do everything i possibly can to get the word out there about this company so no one will have to go through what we all have!

Anwers to your questions ..Globus is most likely stringing you along so you can't possibly file any claims within 90 days

I'm sorry, the DOT is the Department of Transportation. Their complaint line is 1-888-DOT-SAFT Since Globus is most likely stringing you along so you can't possibly file any claims within 90 days, I'l list thier insurance agent for you. The policy is getting cancelled on 9/11/2005, but it's only the dates of the move that matter. You may have to make several phone calls, but just keep asking to speak to the office in charge of the specific policy number. ADRIATIC INSURANCE COMPANY Address: 3501 N. CAUSEWAY BLVD. METAIRIE, LA US 70002 Telephone: (800) 535 - 7291 Fax: (504) 832 - 0605 Policy # MC 7986 As for the 110% rule, what that means is that at DELIVERY, you can only be asked to pay 110% of the original estimate. The mover can then bill you for the remaining amount due, but not mail the bill until the 30th day after delivery. You CAN speak to a lawyer, but odds are anything you win in small claims court will be cancelled out by court costs and lawyer's fees, and the laws are on the movers' side. But if you are only interested in a fight and not the money, then go for it! Good luck!

Globus does have an F rating!!

I checked today and they do have an F rating. I did call the CPUC and they directed me to the FMCSA she said it was legal for me to file a civil suit. They are in their records now with a complaint but it didn't sound like it was going to do much more. What is DOT? I still can't get Globus to send me a claims form we only have 90 days to file and one of our items is still missing. Any suggestions on how to get them to send me what I need? I also read on BBB that u only have to pay 10% of what they originally qouted...I know we paid way more than that. Should I just go to a lawyer and stop wasting my time? Thank u for all the help so far. I really appreciate it!

Actually, Globus has an "F" rating at the BBB, and their membership was revoked. Their membership at the AMSA has also been revoked. Do not be fooled by the logos on Globus' website. Did you call the DOT or the CPUC?

You should contact the California Public Utilities Commission. They are pretty strict on movers who extort money, which is exactly what happened when they threatened to take your things to Chicago. Just so you know, their BBB membership was revoked and they now have an "F" rating. Fitting.
