Silverleaf Resorts set up a kiosk at a University of Texas football game, offering people chances to spin a prize wheel and win "free cruises." I won—supposedly. To claim my prize, I had to go to Silverleaf Resorts and listen to a four-hour sales pitch for a timeshare. I then received a certificate from Gocrv for the "free cruise."
Next, I had to pay hundreds of dollars in taxes and as a deposit. When I went to reserve the cruise datas, all of my options listed a $200/person "high season" fee. Apparently, high season is all year long.
So, in conclusion, this "free cruise" is going to end up costing nearly $500/person, plus the time lost at Silverleaf Resorts. This is a total scam. Both Silverleaf and gocrv engage in deceptive practices.
